Sintesi dell'editore
Medical doctor and researcher Dr. Kris Verburgh is quickly emerging as one of the world's leading research authorities on the science of aging. The Longevity Code is his authoritative guide on why and how we age and on the four most crucial areas we have control over in order to slow down - and even reverse - the aging process.
We learn why some animal species hardly age at all while others age and die very quickly and about the mechanisms at work that slowly but definitely cause our bodies to age, making us susceptible to heart attack, stroke, cancer, pneumonia, and dementia.
Dr. Verburgh devotes the last third of The Longevity Code to what we can do to slow down the process of aging. He concludes by introducing and assessing the wide range of cutting-edge developments in anti-aging technology, the stuff once only of science fiction: new types of vaccines and the use of mitochondrial DNA, CRISPR proteins, stem cells, and more.

Worth the listen
I appreciated that The author is a medical man who has done a deep dive researching a very complex area. He brings many different discoveries to the foreground. worth remembering is that this was last revised in 2018. So it's missing some years of innovation, and this area moves very quickly. So he's missed out the discovery that telomeres can be extended using hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy. Unfortunately he's very pro vaccines, despite the non pharma sponsored research proving that vaccines are far more detrimental to our health than helpful.

Pretty shallow and all over the place.
while I've read the book, author was leaving an impression that he himself is struggling with theme. there's too much extra stuff not warranted for the book such as global warming, futuristic technologies and conspiracy theories about food manufacturers. It's a second book on longevity i had finished so far and a Gundrys Longevity Paradox is much more informative and compitent.

Excellent overview on the science of Longevity
Easy to understand and packed with useful information about diet and lifestyle changes we can make right now to increase our lifespan. The author provides many insights in to the latest (as of 2017) scientific discoveries to reduce/reverse aging, and explores some of the (mostly positive) social, political, economic and environmental impacts of humans living beyond 200 years.

Not worth it.
There is very little in here on how to enhance your life but tons of tesseract on why we die and get old. Plus the audio book is very short, very little content. don't waste your money

Good insights and fantastic hints towards a healthier life
The book is very straightforward ref. to why we get sick. Diseases appear also based on decisions made about eating and drinking. Certainly everything we do should be checked whether is good or bad for our lives. It does not mean the author owns the truth. However there is a sense of solid search behind the statements. We all know that longevity is tied to health and vice versa. Therefore, our understanding of what is good or bad is key to have a better life. I liked the book very much. Congratulations!!!

Nicely put together
The author makes the subject as interesting as possible. Nice look at historic and technical reasoning for why things happen the way they do.
Some of the information is out-dated and does not comport to more recent research. Some old school advice that was a bit disappointing to see but over-all very enlightening.
I loved the technical details of cellular aging, bodily clean-up, effects of sugars, and definitions of age-related vs not age-related maladies. Good reasons were offered for most of the recommendations but there were also a few minor gaps where recommendations were made with explanations that did not seem as strong.
- Recommending against all grains but offering recipes for oat products.
- Recommending continuously against red meat but no real reasoning other than out-dated stock recommendations.
I still enjoyed the book quite a bit and I would still recommend it.

Good
Probably the best book to read if you want an ageing informed diet. I just wanted a book about ageing. It still has some interesting facts but doesn’t go into any depth on the studies, or even mention what they are at times - it just tells you the outcome: eat fruit and veg.
