Cuento de navidad narra la historia de Ebenezer Scrooge, un anciano miserable y tacaño, a quien durante una gélida Nochebuena, recibe la visita del espectro de su antiguo socio, Jacob Marley, quien hace desfilar ante Scrooge la visión de los espíritus de las Navidades pasadas, presentes y futuras intentando conmover su corazón. Ebenezer Scrooge era un hombre avaro. Su avaricia y frialdad arrugaron sus facciones, enrojecieron sus ojos y tornaron sus labios de color azul. Hasta su forma de caminar fue endurecida por ahorrar energías. Era tal su avaricia que ni el mal clima podía quitarle una reacción.
