 Moonchild is a novel written by the British occultist Aleister Crowley in 1917. Its plot involves a magical war between a group of white magicians, led by Simon Iff, and a group of black magicians, over an unborn child. 

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini, born on July 29, 1883, who went by the nickname “Il Duce” (“the Leader”), was a deeply unbalanced tyrannical Italian dictator who created the dreaded Fascist Party in 1919. Eventually, he held all power in Italy as the country’s prime minister from 1922 to 1943. An ardent socialist as a youth, Mussolini followed in his father's political footsteps but was expelled by the party for his overt support of World War I. As an evil dictator during World War II, he greatly overextended his forces and was killed by his own people in Mezzegra, Italy. 

Sense and Sensibility was written by Jane Austen and published in 1811. The novel follows the lives of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate the complexities of love, society, and family in 19th-century England. In this essay, we will explore the themes, characters, and plot of Sense and Sensibility in detail. One of the central themes is the contrast between sense, represented by Elinor, and sensibility, represented by Marianne. Elinor is rational and reserved, while Marianne is impulsive and romantic.

A charming novella by Charles Dickens first published in 1848. It is the fifth and last of Dickens's Christmas novellas. The story is more about the spirit of the holidays than about the holidays themselves, harking back to the first in the series, A Christmas Carol. The tale centres on a Professor Redlaw and those close to him.

"Kidnapped" by Robert Louis Stevenson is a thrilling adventure novel set in the tumultuous period of 18th-century Scotland. Seeking his inheritance, David visits his uncle Ebenezer, only to be betrayed and sold into slavery aboard a ship bound for the Carolinas. The novel captures the essence of the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands, depicting the rugged landscapes and the complex social and political tensions of the time.

Published posthumously in 1919, this collection of diary entries presents a scathing picture of army life and is said to be one of the most vivid accounts of daily life in the trenches. It chronicles West's increasing disillusion with war and his move toward pacifist and atheist beliefs. The final part consists of his powerful war poems, including God, How I Hate You, You Young Cheerful Men, and Night Patrol. West was killed by a sniper in 1917. In view of some of his poems, one wonders if death was not unwelcome.

His novels, such as "The Time Machine," "The War of the Worlds," and "The Invisible Man," have become iconic and have helped shape the science fiction genre as we know it today.
