What happens when beauty, privilege, and celebration collide with the quiet reality of death? This powerful audiobook brings to life a story where elegance and unease exist side by side—where a perfect summer garden becomes the stage for a profound awakening. Follow Laura Sheridan as she prepares for a lavish party, surrounded by comfort, charm, and effortless wealth. But when tragedy strikes just beyond her family’s world, her growing empathy clashes with the indifference of those around her.

Published after Mansfield's death in 1923 by her husband, Something Childish and Other Stories contains some of the feminist trailblazer's most renowned works, spanning over a decade of writing. Written with her trademark psychological insight and emotional nuance, the works within this final collection beautifully showcase Mansfield's evolving style through the decades.

Brimming with intensity, shrewd psychological insight and quiet epiphanies, Bliss and Other Stories compellingly explores the emotional complexity lying just beneath the surface of day-to-day niceties. Mansfield’s flair and impressionistic prose provides a poignant lens into the inner worlds of her characters.

In the realm of the short story, Katherine Mansfield established a highly original style. Undramatic, poetic and lyrical, her writing is exquisitely subtle in its treatment of human behaviour. When these 14 short stories were published in 1920, she had already effected a transformation in this form of fiction, and her influence has been deeply felt by subsequent writers.

Katherine Mansfield was only 22 years old when these stories were first published in book form. Mansfield was later reluctant to see them republished, considering them, apparently, to be mere juvenilia, but they still make interesting listening as portents of a formidable talent. Only some of the stories relate to life in a German boarding house (one presumably similar to the location where Mansfield herself spent the early months of an probably unwelcome pregnancy that ended in miscarriage). Many of the stories display a wicked sense of humour, while Mansfield's restiveness under the ...

Psychology is a 1920 short story by Katherine Mansfield. It was first published in Bliss and Other Stories. A man visits a woman for tea. He tells her this is the only place he pays attention to in terms of its furniture and so on. He also loves her 'little boy'. They then talk about the state of the novel as a literary genre - coming to the conclusion that the psycho-novel is shoddy. She feels anguished about possibly having failed in not following suit with that genre however, and he leaves...
