  • I Built an Entire System to Avoid Wearing Culottes | Ep. 208
    Jun 24 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

I was taught from a young age to follow the rules.

The problem was... I hated the rules.

    More specifically, I hated culottes.

What followed was an elaborate daily operation involving school uniforms, carefully rolled clothing, strategic wardrobe changes, and more effort than any kid should have been willing to invest just to avoid wearing something they didn't like.

Looking back, it sounds completely ridiculous.

At the time, it felt perfectly logical.

In this episode, I'm sharing the story of my ongoing battle with culottes, the lengths I went to in order to fit in, and why some of the things we do as kids make a lot more sense when viewed through the eyes of our younger selves.

Sometimes the funniest stories are the ones that seemed completely normal at the time.

    🎙️ In this episode:
    • School uniforms and strict dress codes
    • My secret clothing-changing routine
    • Why fitting in felt so important
    • Looking back with a different perspective
    • The infamous culotte saga

If you've ever had a fashion choice, school rule, or childhood memory that still makes you laugh, this episode is for you.

  • Stop Selling Time. Sell the Scope of Work ~ Holly Moore | Ep. 207
    Jun 20 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

What does it really take to build an $11.5 million cleaning company?

In this episode of Cleaning Business Life, Jamie Runco and Shannon Miller sit down with Holly Moore, founder of Maids & Moore, creator of The Cleaning Software, Founder Member of the now infamous "Clean Con" to talk about the lessons she learned while scaling from a small local cleaning business to one of the largest residential cleaning companies in Texas.

Holly shares her journey from leaving a teaching career and cleaning homes herself to leading a company with more than 140 cleaning technicians, multiple locations, and a leadership team that allows her to focus on innovation and growth.

    We discuss:

🧹 The "March to a Million" and how goal setting helped transform her company

🧹 Why company culture isn't accidental—and how to intentionally create it

🧹 The biggest mistakes owners make when trying to scale

🧹 Why delegation is essential if you want to grow past the owner-operator stage

🧹 Building leadership teams and promoting from within

🧹 Trainer-to-technician ratios, quality control systems, and operational structure

🧹 How she built The Cleaning Software after outgrowing traditional CRMs

🧹 Why route density and smarter scheduling matter more than most owners realize

🧹 Her thoughts on CleanCon and the importance of community in the cleaning industry

And one of the most powerful lessons from the entire conversation:

Stop selling time. Sell the scope of work.

If you've ever felt stuck at a revenue ceiling, struggled to let go of control, or wondered what it takes to build a business that can run without you, this episode is packed with practical insights you can apply immediately.

  • From $100K to $2M: The Systems Behind Growth | Ep. 206
    Jun 17 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

Growth is exciting—until it starts breaking everything underneath it.

In this episode of Cleaning Business Life, Shannon Miller and Jamie Runco discuss the scaling pains that every cleaning business owner eventually faces as their company grows. From the first employee to multi-million-dollar operations, every stage of growth comes with a new set of challenges, responsibilities, and growing pains.

What worked at $100,000 won't work at $350,000.

What got you to $750,000 won't get you to $2 million.

And the systems that carried you through one stage of business may become the very thing holding you back in the next.

    Move-Out Cleaning System: https://klean-freaks-university.newzenler.com/courses/the-move-out-cleaning-master-class-copy

    In this conversation, we discuss:

    • Why growth magnifies existing problems
    • The common growth ceilings cleaning businesses encounter
    • The challenges between $100K–$350K, $650K–$750K, and beyond
    • Why many owners become the bottleneck in their own companies
    • How poor systems create expensive mistakes
    • The difference between a people problem and a process problem
    • Why communication breakdowns happen as teams grow
    • Building systems that support long-term scalability
    • How to transition from operator to leader

We also explore a hard truth many business owners eventually face: you can no longer outwork every problem.

At some point, growth requires better systems, stronger leadership, clearer communication, and a willingness to evolve alongside your business.

If your cleaning business feels harder than it used to, you're probably not failing. More often than not, your business has simply outgrown its current structure and is asking for the next level of systems.

Because successful businesses don't run on hustle forever.

    Eventually, they run on systems.

  • Stop Being Needed: The Growth Trap That Keeps Cleaning Business Owners Stuck | Ep. 205
    Jun 13 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

At some point, every cleaning business owner faces the same uncomfortable reality:

The business can't run without them.

The phone rings? They answer it.

A cleaning tech has a question? They answer it.

A client has an issue? They handle it.

A schedule changes? They fix it.

While being needed can feel important, it can also become one of the biggest obstacles to growth.

In this episode, Shannon Miller and Jamie Runco discuss why so many cleaning business owners accidentally become the bottleneck in their own companies and how that pattern shows up at every stage of business growth—from your first $100,000 to multi-million-dollar operations.

They explore the difference between being involved and being required, why owners struggle to let go, and how systems, training, and leadership can help create a business that functions without constant owner intervention.

Whether you're a solo cleaner looking to grow, a small team owner feeling overwhelmed, or a larger company trying to break through the next ceiling, this conversation will challenge the way you think about leadership, control, and scalability.

Because the goal isn't to be needed.

The goal is to build a business that can thrive without you.

    In this episode:

    • Why being needed feels rewarding
    • The hidden cost of owner dependency
    • Common growth ceilings in cleaning businesses
    • The owner bottleneck explained
    • Systems that reduce interruptions
    • Training your team to think independently
    • Moving from operator to owner
    • Building a business that scales

  • Visibility: The Business Skill Nobody Taught Us | Ep. 204
    Jun 10 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

Most business owners think they have a marketing problem.

Sometimes they have a visibility problem.

In this episode of Cleaning Business Life, Shannon Miller and Jamie Runco tackle a topic that many entrepreneurs struggle with but rarely talk about openly: being seen.

For many women, visibility can feel uncomfortable. We were taught to work hard, be helpful, stay humble, and let our work speak for itself.

The challenge is that business doesn't always work that way.

If nobody knows you exist, it's difficult to grow.

In this conversation, Shannon and Jamie discuss:

    • Why so many women struggle with visibility
    • The difference between confidence and self-promotion
    • Fear of judgment and what other people might think
    • Why being good at what you do isn't always enough
    • The role visibility plays in leadership and business growth
    • Taking up space as a business owner
    • Building influence while remaining authentic
    • Why hiding can become an expensive business strategy

They also share personal experiences, lessons learned, and the mindset shifts that helped them become more visible in their own businesses.

This isn't a conversation about becoming famous.

It's a conversation about allowing yourself to be seen.

Because your future clients, customers, employees, and opportunities can't find you if they don't know you exist.

If you've ever hesitated to post, speak up, market yourself, go live, start a podcast, or put yourself out there, this episode is for you.

  • Why Waiting to Raise Prices Is Slowly Killing Your Profit | Ep. 154
    Jun 3 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

In this episode, we break down why waiting to raise your prices quietly kills your profit — even when you’re fully booked. If you’ve been putting off price increases because of the economy, the holidays, or fear of client pushback, this conversation is for you.

We talk through how often price increases should happen, what percentage is normal, and why raising everyone at once is one of the fastest ways to lose clients. We also explain why December is one of the best times to raise rates, how pricing connects directly to payroll and rising operating costs, and how to roll out increases without panic or mass cancellations.

A special thank you to our sponsor, Erica Paynter of MyVBK.com, for supporting this episode. Price increases aren’t greedy — they’re necessary if you want to protect your profit and build a sustainable cleaning business.

  • Move-Out Cleanings Are Not Regular Cleanings | Ep. 202
    Jun 3 2026

This podcast is powered by Klean Freaks University.com — where real cleaners build real empires. From mop buckets to million-dollar systems, we teach you how to clean smarter, lead stronger, and scale faster.

Make more money with Move out Cleanings here:

    https://klean-freaks-university.newzenler.com/courses/the-move-out-cleaning-master-class-copy

Most cleaning business owners make the same mistake when they first start doing move-out cleanings:

They treat them like regular maintenance cleans.

After thousands of move-out cleanings, Shannon has learned that move-outs are an entirely different service with different expectations, different labor requirements, different pricing structures, and very different profit risks.

In this episode of Cleaning Business Life, Shannon breaks down the key differences between recurring maintenance cleaning and move-out cleaning, including:

    • Why people mentally move out before they physically move out
    • Why empty homes expose years of neglect
    • The hidden labor most cleaners underestimate
    • Why move-out clients have different expectations
    • The expectation gap between recurring and move-out cleaning
    • Why cleaners accidentally underprice these jobs
    • The difference between maintaining a home and restoring a home
    • Why systems matter more than hustle

This episode is part of the Move-Out Files series, where Shannon shares real-world observations, lessons learned, and operational insights after years of working in the move-out cleaning industry.

Because move-outs are not maintenance cleans.

And if you treat them like they are, your profit will eventually pay the price.
