Your breath is a bridge between your nervous system, your body, and your brain.

In this solo episode of We Didn’t Plan For This, Adrienne talks about one of the simplest and most powerful tools we have — our breath.

Breathing isn’t just something we do in yoga class. It’s something we use to cope, recover, and sometimes just get through the day. Breathing is interesting because it’s automatic and you can control it.

In Episode #172, Nora shared how she didn't plan on being diagnosed with breast cancer. She did everything possible in her life to prevent it. Yet, cancer doesn't discriminate. Doctors and physical therapists focus on breath after major surgery, because breathing helps the body recover, calms the nervous system, and helps regulate stress and pain.

So to help prepare her, Adrienne shares why breathing matters, why it can be hard to focus on, and even a few techniques you can use in real life.

    This episode is for Nora.

And for anyone else who is in a season they didn’t plan for.

If you don’t know what to do, start with the breath.

So whether you’re lying awake at 2 am, sitting in your car before walking into something difficult, or simply needing a moment to catch your breath—press play.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we planned.

This year on How Yoga Changed My Life, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about the moments that change everything—the diagnoses, the losses, the uncertainty, the unexpected turns none of us saw coming.

What we’ve learned is that when life gets hard, coping skills matter. Breath matters. Rest matters. Learning how to come back to yourself matters.

In Case of Emergency, Press Play is a collection of guided meditations, breath work practices, and short moments of pause designed for the days when life feels heavy, overwhelming, or simply too loud.

These aren’t designed to fix you. They’re here to support you.

Because we didn’t plan for this… but we’re here.

  • 12. People Be Peopling: The People Behind the Sirens - PART 1
    Sep 29 2026

    Send Us a Message

What actually happens after you call 911?

In Part 1 of our conversation with two Central Texas paramedics, we get a look at what life in EMS really looks like—from what happens inside “the box” and why staying calm can look like not caring, to the calls that have absolutely nothing to do with life-or-death emergencies.

We also talk about burnout, trauma, dark humor, community paramedicine, the people you never forget, and one rescue that shows exactly what people are capable of when somebody’s life is on the line.

And yes, apparently calling 911 because your thermometer doesn’t work is a thing.

Part 2 is where the stories get weird. Because people be peopling.

    Sep 24 2026

On this series we’ve talked about loss, diagnosis, and life changing overnight. Today we’re talking about what happens when the thing that changes… is your body.

In this episode of We Didn’t Plan For This, Mia shares her experience being diagnosed with Graves disease and what it felt like to live in a body that suddenly didn’t feel like her own.

Her heart rate was constantly elevated, she felt anxious and exhausted, and movement — something that had always brought her joy — suddenly became difficult and uncomfortable. For a long time, she didn’t know what was wrong. She thought it was stress, overwork, or just life.

Eventually, she was diagnosed with Graves disease, and everything started to make sense.

This episode is about what happens when your body changes, when you can’t move the way you used to, and how hard it is to step away from the practices that once made you feel like yourself.

It’s about patience, identity, health, and learning to listen when your body forces you to slow down.

Because sometimes we don’t plan for this either.

Imagine someone took away your business card, your LinkedIn profile, your family group text, and your to-do list.

    Who would be left?

    Don’t panic.

    This isn’t a pop quiz.

    It’s a guided meditation.

We can spend so much time collecting labels, titles, responsibilities, and roles that eventually they can start to feel like our entire identity.

But what happens when one of those roles changes, or disappears or simply feels heavier than usual?

This guided meditation is an opportunity to step back from all the hats you wear and reconnect with something deeper — the part of you that exists beneath every title, to-do list, accomplishment, and expectation.

For the moments when you’ve become so busy being everything for everyone else that you’ve lost sight of yourself, press play.

  • 10. People Be Peopling...We're Gonna Need Those F*cks Back: A Strategic Reallocation
    Sep 22 2026

On this week's episode of People Be Peopling...

Apparently one of the perks of getting older—and going through some serious sh*t—is realizing you don’t have to give a sh*t about everything!!

Adrienne and Nora each bring their official F*ck-It List: five things they simply do not care about anymore. Some are ridiculous. Some are serious. And some probably should’ve been let go a long time ago.

But we’re not completely dead inside. We flip it and share five things we give MORE of a shit about now.

Because maybe it’s not that we stopped caring. We just got a whole lot more selective about what deserves our time, energy, and f*cks.
People be peopling. We don’t have to care about all of it.
