  • The Science and Philosophy of Slowing down at the Table | Season 3 | Episode 5
    Sep 23 2026

We’ve become obsessed with WHAT we eat.

Protein. Carbs. Glucose. Fasting. Fiber. Calories. Supplements.

But what about HOW we eat?

Eating in the car. Lunch at a computer. Dinner while scrolling. Meals finished in ten minutes. Somewhere along the way, we became incredibly sophisticated about nutrition—and increasingly unsophisticated about eating.

In this episode of The Longevity Protocol, we explore what happens when we slow down: satiety, digestion, stress, pleasure, portion control and even how well we remember and experience a meal. We talk about eating like a food critic, Mediterranean food culture, The Slow Down Diet, saying grace, the family table and art de vivre—the art of living.

Maybe we imported the olive oil and forgot the table.

And maybe one of the simplest longevity practices is also one of the oldest: sit down, share the food, say grace, smell it, taste it, talk, listen and stay awhile.

Because the well-lived life isn’t only about living longer. It’s about being present enough to actually experience it.

The Longevity Protocol — the art and science of living the well-lived life.

  • Sex is a Vital Sign: Sexual Longevity | The Longevity Protocol | Season 3 | Episode 4| E47
    Sep 17 2026

What if sex is actually a vital sign? In this episode of The Longevity Protocol, Dr. John A. Robinson and Dr. Cristina Romero-Bosch explore sexual longevity and why changes in libido, erections, arousal, lubrication, sensation and orgasm can reveal much more about our overall health than we realize. We examine the connections between sexual function and cardiovascular health, nitric oxide, hormones, metabolism, the nervous system, menopause, genital tissue health and the pelvic floor, while also exploring the equally important roles of desire, pleasure, intimacy and connection. From erectile dysfunction as a potential cardiovascular clue to new discoveries about clitoral anatomy and innervation, we make the case that sexual health deserves a place alongside the other markers we routinely discuss in longevity medicine. Because longevity isn't simply about living longer—it's about preserving our capacity to desire, connect, experience pleasure and remain fully alive. This is the art and science of living the well lived life.https://www.longevityprotocollife.com/#hormones #sexuality #longevity #pleasure #cardiovascularhealth

  • The New Weight-loss Revolution | The Longevity Protocol | Season 3 | Episode 3 | E46
    Sep 9 2026

In this episode of The Longevity Protocol, Dr. John A. Robinson and Dr. Cristina Romero-Bosch make the case that sexual health should be considered a vital sign of healthy aging. Sexual function depends on the coordinated health of the brain, hormones, nervous system, cardiovascular system, metabolism, genital tissues, pelvic floor, and relationships—meaning changes in libido, erections, lubrication, sensation, or orgasm may be telling us something important about the health of the whole person. We explore erectile dysfunction as a potential early cardiovascular warning sign, nitric oxide and endothelial health, testosterone and menopause, the remarkable anatomy and innervation of the clitoris, pelvic floor function, and the neurobiology of desire and orgasm. But sexual longevity isn't about trying to be 25 again; it's about preserving our capacity for desire, arousal, sensation, pleasure, intimacy, and connection as we age. Because longevity isn't simply about accumulating more years—it is about remaining fully alive within those years, and sexuality is an important part of the art and science of living the well lived life.

  • The Art and Science of Living the Well Lived Life | Season 3 | Episode 1 | E44
    Aug 28 2026

What if we’ve been asking the wrong question about longevity?

We spend enormous amounts of time asking how to live longer—tracking biomarkers, optimizing hormones, building muscle, protecting our brains, and trying to slow biological aging. But eventually, another question has to be asked:

What are we trying to live longer for?

This episode launches Season 3 of The Longevity Protocol Podcast, and with it, a new season-long theme: The Art and Science of the Well-Lived Life.

Throughout this season, Dr. Bosch and I are going to try to answer a question we’re asking in our own lives: What does it actually mean to live a well-lived life? Not just as physicians, but as a married couple, parents, friends, travelers, business owners, and two people getting older ourselves.

Inspired by our recent travels through France and the idea of l’art de vivre—the art of living—we begin by exploring what modern longevity sometimes forgets. Medicine, movement, nutrition, hormones, and optimization matter, but so do love, intimacy, purpose, friendship, great food, beauty, adventure, pleasure, and being present enough to actually experience your life.

The science of longevity helps preserve the instrument—your body and brain. But the science exists to make the art possible.

We don’t have the well-lived life figured out. That’s the point of Season 3. We’re going to explore the question together.

Because perhaps longevity isn't simply about putting more time into life. It's about putting more life into our time.

  • How to Create Optimal Sleep for Longevity: Sleep Hygiene, Co-Sleeping and Sex | The Longevity Protocol Ep. 41
    Mar 13 2026

Why is sleep so elusive for so many of us—and what are the long-term consequences if we don’t get it right?

In this episode of The Longevity Protocol, we break down the science behind one of the most important—and most overlooked—foundations of longevity: sleep.

Research shows that sleep is not simply “rest.” It’s an active biological repair state that regulates hormone balance, metabolic health, immune function, and even the brain’s ability to clear toxic waste products. During deep sleep, the brain’s glymphatic system becomes significantly more active, helping remove proteins like beta-amyloid and tau that are linked to neurodegenerative disease. At the same time, critical hormones—including growth hormone, testosterone, cortisol, melatonin, leptin, and ghrelin—are tightly regulated by sleep architecture and circadian rhythms.

But when sleep becomes fragmented or chronically restricted, those systems quickly begin to break down. Even a week of reduced sleep can lower testosterone, impair insulin sensitivity, elevate cortisol, and disrupt appetite regulation—creating a cascade of metabolic and hormonal consequences that accelerate biological aging.

This episode goes beyond basic “sleep hygiene” advice to explore the real physiology behind high-quality sleep and the daily habits that support it. We discuss circadian rhythm anchoring, light exposure, temperature control, alcohol and caffeine timing, exercise scheduling, and how nervous system regulation plays a critical role in entering deep, restorative sleep.

We also explore the social and relational aspects of sleep that many people overlook. From co-sleeping with children to sharing a bed with a partner—or even a dog—these choices can influence sleep architecture, hormonal signaling, and relationship dynamics. We break down the physiological pros and cons of sleeping together versus sleeping apart, including how intimacy and sexual activity may influence sleep quality through hormones like oxytocin and prolactin.

Finally, we review evidence-based supplements and strategies often used to support sleep, including magnesium, glycine, L-theanine, melatonin, and emerging research on creatine’s role in supporting brain energy metabolism during sleep deprivation.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why sleep is one of the most powerful drivers of longevity and cellular repair
    • How deep sleep regulates growth hormone, testosterone, and metabolic health
    • The connection between sleep, brain detoxification, and cognitive decline
    • Why circadian consistency matters more than many people realize
    • How light, alcohol, caffeine, and late meals disrupt sleep architecture
    • The physiological pros and cons of co-sleeping with partners, children, or pets
    • How sexual intimacy may influence sleep quality and bonding hormones
    • Evidence-based supplements and strategies that support restorative sleep

This is a science-based conversation about sleep, relationships, hormones, and the daily habits that shape both lifespan and healthspan.
