  • 254: Nicki Thompson - Fasting With Nicki
    Jan 22 2026
    Nicki Thompson

Nicki Thompson has spent over 20 years working in health and fitness, with experience spanning personal training, group fitness coaching, health coaching, and gym management. Her journey began when she was first introduced to the gym in her early twenties, sparking a passion for fitness that never left her.

Despite outwardly appearing “in shape,” Nicki’s relationship with health was far from balanced. Behind the discipline, calorie tracking, and intense training, she was caught in a cycle of extreme restriction followed by secret bingeing, driven by control rather than self-care. No matter how much she knew about nutrition and fitness, lasting change felt out of reach.

Everything shifted when Nicki turned her focus to mindset, habit change, and the psychology of behaviour. She discovered that willpower is limited, and that real transformation comes from self-awareness rather than force.

Fasting became a pivotal tool in her own healing. Beyond the physical benefits, it offered clarity, calm, and the space to observe patterns without judgement. This reframing of fasting as a practice of awareness, not punishment, became central to her approach.

Nicki is now a certified Functional Nutrition Health Coach, Cognitive Behavioural Coach (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Coach (REBT), and Goal Success Coach. She specialises in helping women step out of all-or-nothing cycles and build sustainable health grounded in self-trust, flexibility, and long-term progress.

    Nicki’s Top Tips
    1. Set a goal, decide what that is, what you want and what’s the bigger vision that you see for yourself.
    2. Write down the actions that you would do when you have achieved that. Make a list of actions of what this version of you looks like.
    3. Create affirmations based on points 1 & 2.

JoAnn McManamy and Jackie Fletcher with Nayiri Mississian – Los Tres Amigos

Joann McManamy is an informed patient who has turned her life around. After a lifetime of overeating, she experienced the realisation that led to good decision making which then led to significant weight loss, good health and a high quality of life.

JoAnn is a retired Professor who loves visiting England. She is looking forward to sharing her journey of recovery with The Fabulously Keto audience Nayiri Mississian

I am an independent nutrition researcher. I have been involved in nutrition research since 2015 and currently working on a book emphasising the importance of correct nutrition for optimal health.

I work independently and have no associations with the food industry, pharmaceutical industry or any politically powered nutrition organisations. I receive no funds from any of these mentioned bodies, which gives me the freedom to objectively look at studies and share them with you without any biases, obligations or external pressures.

I share the scientific information I study with the followers in my members-only exclusive Facebook groups.

The groups promote the low carbohydrate/low insulin lifestyle as supported by scientific evidence. This is the only lifestyle, as shown in medical science, that prevents or reverses insulin resistance, thus dramatically reducing one’s chances of developing metabolic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, unbalanced lipids, fatty liver disease, kidney dysfunction and even some types of cancer.

The low carb and fasting group members have free access to summarised information posts, recipes, tips, and weekly live videos. Members also receive support from me as well as others who are in the same journey. I love my research work and love sharing the information I uncover with others because I believe that knowledge is wonderfully infectious and expands when shared.

For members who need further support, I offer coaching services on a one-to-one basis to help them improve their health with good nutrition.

My professional background lies in linguistics, literature, education and translation. I am the founder and director of a translation company. I have 30 years of experience in the education field and have held teaching positions in many of Britain’s outstanding private schools.

I am also an avid gardener and grow my own food in the summer months. I love creating healthy recipes that promote nutrient-dense foods to achieve optimal health.

I have been a type 1 diabetic for 42 years. I am in great health thanks to the dietary and workout protocol that I follow. To find out more, join my Facebook group for type 1 diabetics who follow the low carb and fasting lifestyle.

Kim Howerton is a certified Metabolic Health Coach, keto expert, and co-author of Common Sense Labs: A Practical Guide to Decoding Your Blood Work and Taking Control of Your Health (Updated and Expanded Edition).

Her motivation to become a health coach was fueled by her own experience of ill health, which included polycystic ovarian condition, binge eating disorder, major depressive disorder, hypothyroidism, obesity, metabolic dysfunction, gastritis, IBS, and autoimmune disease.

As age forty loomed, she knew she needed to get serious about her health and over the next several years she devoted herself to getting educated about what it means to become and remain a healthy human.
