  • Mindfulness for Emotional Eating
    Jan 24 2021

This episode gives an overview of why you'd want to open to difficult emotion despite the inherent discomfort of it! I go into how not doing this blocks potential insights from developing that could help shift habit energies around emotional eating that doesn't serve you. I discuss a general way to approach difficult emotion that allows for a self-compassionate opening towards it without trying to push it away.

  • Byron Katie's The Work for Emotional Eating
    Nov 22 2020

For this week's podcast, we wanted to bring you a taste of something we've been working on all month in Conscious Eating Community. We've been exploring The Work of Byron Katie in our community, relating it to moments of tension and conflict in our lives. That includes moments where we struggle with emotional eating.

The Work asks you to actually put yourself back into a tense scenario and to bring to mind a thought that was present or a belief that was present in that moment. Sitting with this discomfort is the beginning of gaining freedom from it.

We don't get to choose what we believe in a given moment. Afterwards, though, doing an inquiry practice like what is highlighted in the video below can free you from those thoughts. You can start to get a taste of what it is to be in a moment like that, but not have the thought.

It's one thing to rationally know a thought doesn't serve you. Experiencing it directly though is key to letting it go.

This audio includes a 10-minute guided practice (beginning at the 5-minute mark) that will help you dive into this profound practice right now.

I hope you'll find it helpful.
