Sintesi dell'editore
To understand the strange goings on at The Pale Horse Inn, Mark Easterbrook knew he had to begin at the beginning. But where exactly was the beginning?
Was it the savage blow to the back of Father Gorman's head? Or was it when the priest's assailant searched him so roughly, he tore the clergyman's cassock? Or could it have been the priest's visit, just minutes before, to a woman on her deathbed? Or was there a deeper significance to the violent squabble that Mark Easterbrook had himself witnessed earlier?
Wherever the beginning lies, Mark and his sidekick, Ginger Corrigan, may soon have cause to wish they'd never found it.
"Wholesale murder by black magic...highly ingenious, wholly enjoyable." ( Evening Standard)

If you like an old fashioned 'Who Done It'
This was a great listen to one of Agatha's mysteries that does not involve Miss M or Msr Poirot. Expect that all is not fully revealed until the end, though it is fun to guess. And this a story where you could perhaps guess.
A woman asks to see a priest. She dies, he dies. So it begins.

Wonderful
Hugh Fraser does Agatha Christie proud with this performance.
Better as an unabridged version, don't know why others have played with it before, it's great as it is.

Another great Agatha Christie!
Another great story from Agatha Christie. One of the things I found interesting about this is the contemporary details as to 1960s fashion and appearance. Was this simply the main character's view or was it Christie's as well? A good who (and how) dunnit!

Outstanding performance from Hugh Fraser-
Gripping story with many twists and turns. Quite spooky at times. Enjoyable and flawless narration with many characters voices - none overdone.
My dog is worn out as I walked much further than I expected to see what happened next! Got me miles!
I'd say this is amongst Agathas finest works-Loved it!

The true Pale Horse
There is nothing better than listening to a great story with a great narrative which this was. It was grippingly good fun. I have read/listened to nearly every Agatha Christie novel. I have also watched every film/tv adaptations and I have yet to see The Pale Horse be true to her great novel with the latest BBC adaptation being absolutely beyond a joke

One of her best, well narrated, great plot
In my opinion this is one of Christie's best books, a great plot, wonderful atmosphere, took me a long time to work out who the killer was. Great narration by Hugh Fraser.

The art of the novel
I hadn't really followed Christie before this but it is beautifully observed and character driven.
Not only does the story twist and turn in the usual Christie way, revealing the baddie as the person least likely, but the dialogue and characterisation are crisp and sharp, and the dramatic tension sustained. I will never understand how she was able to churn out crime novels in industrial quantities without becoming a hack novelist, which she most certainly was not. The narration is accomplished and the various accents perfectly delineate the characters.

Fabulous ,fabulous Christie!!K
As usual a superb story. Spooky and a little unsettling in parts, just loved it.
Hugh Fraser is magnificent as narrator.
I am always disappointed if it isn’t him as narrator in my next Agatha Christie book so tend to keep a look out for him.
Highly recommend as usual too.
