There they find an elderly, infirm uncle and two maiden aunts who have a number of secrets to keep. Peerless British character actors W. Morgan Sheppard, Jane Carr, and Judy Geeson have a wonderful time finding the dark comic rhythms and eerie pathos in every line. But when her lover's wife appears on the scene, one can hear in Potter's clear, fragile delivery the tragedy that most likely is waiting in the wings. A classic of modern British theater.
