The story of a mixed-up girl, and her mixed-up life, and her really strange sister. The big fog that clung to Los Angeles made searching for the girl who was going to kill herself slow and uneasy, but in the end I’d have settled for that and more because murder happened twice before I found the lady in mink....

When the sheriff turns up, he remembers that he had a missing persons bulletin on a blind man three days ago. The sheriff had a hunch that they needed to find the dog’s owner quickly.

There was a radio near the couch. He sat down and turned it on and felt great horror as he heard the music playing on the radio, the music that he had just set down on paper. Then as the music finished, the announcer said, you have just been listening to Eulogy for Orchestra Opus 42 by Henri Lefevre. But who was Henri Lefevre?

But that didn’t matter because she had three million dollars, and Dr. Ferrari had already made up his mind if his plans worked out that he was going to kill her....
