In today’s episode, we discuss the factors around our demise in patience, and how our impatience with destabilising thoughts can risk leading to chronic mental health conditions.

We look at how the internet has encouraged us to alight upon negative thoughts that convince us we are not good enough, which then overrides our ability to acknowledge the positive life aspects that are also part of our every day experience.

We discuss the techniques we have used as a result of professional intervention that develop the essential patience we can acquire to foster the self-compassion vital to protecting our mental health.

On today’s episode, we speak to the Eating Disorder and Food Freedom Dietician, Maeve Hanan. Maeve offers her wealth of evidenced-based insight into the importance of having a relationship with food that supports the physical, as well as mental aspects, of a healthy balanced diet, and how to build that through intuitive eating.

We discuss navigating the cross-over from 'what is me and what is the remnants of the ED voice which is influencing my decisions around food now’ and the importance of qualified support throughout this transition.

Today’s episode is inspired by Harry’s recent recovery process move into the stage of self-discovery, enabling him to identify the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind the choices he makes, and understanding how these choices can limit or challenge self-growth. It isn’t about fixing something broken, but about understanding yourself more clearly to empower your ability to make deliberate choices that can help you break the cycle of negative talk or self-sabotaging behaviour.

Today we discuss the many aspects to the carer role so dangerously, insensibly and illogically ill-met by the specialised health care services a carer needs to support a loved one.

The weight of expectation placed by professional health support services upon a lay person supporting a loved one, with a mental or physical health care needs, presents inevitable mental health care risks to unqualified family members.

Please be mindful of your limitations, and ensure that you seek out the essential professional health support services you need which are vital to protecting you, and those who are vulnerable who are placed within your charge.

On today’s episode, we have the privilege of sharing just some of the wealth of knowledge that Grace H. Richardson has to offer. Grace is an Identity Coach who helps people who have done years of therapy and are still stuck to create the life they want.

Grace’s expertise speaks volumes to us, in relation to advocating for a vital extensive patient-centred eating disorder approach, as well improving essential self-growth coping mechanisms.

The way that Grace delves into aspects of our internal sense of identity, which impact our external behaviours, is an approach that we identify as a method to be adopted into an essential holistic ED therapy approach, particularly in relation to learning how to reset our nervous system to break the cycle of negative responses that we can come to rely upon which can hinder self-growth, as well as lead to restrictive, addictive, and self-sabotaging behaviours.

We often speak about the weight of social expectation placed on men that puts them at personal risk, but why is it becoming increasingly essential to ensure men stand up to toxic examples of manhood?

More and more we are seeing how examples of heinous masculinity are proving that it is becoming critically incumbent upon men to speak out and change the outdated, antediluvian behavioural expectations essential to protecting women, and to encourage the mindset vital to safeguarding the whole of society.

Our aim is to contribute to the field of eating disorder and mental health care, support and understanding through the lessons we learned within our personal experience, and application of the professional knowledge which helped us along the way. Contact us: dontweighttochange@outlook.com

But how do we identify addiction? What are the factors which determine whether we, or a loved one, is displaying addictive behaviour and how is this important to getting help?

Please remember we are not clinicians, psychologists or ED specialists, but we aim to contribute to the field of understanding around eating disorders and mental health through our personal experience, and our understanding and application of the professional research we acquire.
