• Does Breast Size Really Matter When it Comes to Breastfeeding?

    Does breast size really matter when it comes to breastfeeding?

    Short answer: no... at least not in the way you’ve been told.

    In this episode, we unpack one of the most common (and confidence-shaking) myths in pregnancy and postpartum care: that breast size determines milk supply. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t. Breast size is largely about fatty tissue, not milk-making tissue, and milk production is driven by supply and demand, not cup size.

    We’ll talk about:

    What breast size actually means (and what it doesn’t);

    The difference between milk storage capacity and milk supply;

    Why smaller breasts may feed more frequently, and why that’s normal;

    What truly impacts milk production;

    Breast shape, glandular tissue, and realistic expectations;

    How culture, fear, and lack of support undermine breastfeeding confidence.

    Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that breastfeeding is not a pass-or-fail test of your body. It’s a relationship between you, your baby, and the support around you.

    If you’ve ever worried your body might not be “enough,” this conversation is for you.

    And remember, I am always here to answer questions. I also offer Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes in person and virtually. Visit my website to see what classes I have coming up. As always... you have got this sweet mama.

    Motherhood is often framed in extremes, either magical or unbearably hard. In this solo episode of Whispers of Milk and Motherhood, we step into the middle ground and explore the real, quiet joys of motherhood that exist alongside the challenges.

    This episode is a gentle reflection on the moments that don’t always get named: the warmth of a sleeping baby on your chest, the awe of watching your child become themselves, the deep connection that grows in the everyday rhythms of care.

    You’ll hear reflections on:

    What joy in motherhood really looks like (and what it doesn’t have to be)
    How joy and struggle can coexist
    The emotional and identity shifts of becoming a mother

    Motherhood comes with an unspoken pressure to do it right, and to look like you're handling it all with grace.

    In this episode of Whispers of Milk and Motherhood, we explore what happens when motherhood quietly turns into a performance. From feeding choices and sleep schedules to postpartum bodies and emotional expectations, this conversation gently unpacks the weight of comparison, perfectionism and feeling watched... by others and by ourselves.

    Together, we name how cultural expectations, social media and "shoulds" can pull us away from our intuition, and we offer a compassionate reminder: you are not failing... you are mothering!

    This episode is an invitation to soften the rules, release the performance, and return to what actually matters: connection, presence and care... for your baby and for yourself.

  • When "You've Got This!" Hurts: Naming and Navigating Toxic Positivity in Postpartum
    Jan 8 2026

    Send us a text

    In this heartfelt episode of Whispers of Milk and Motherhood, Suzanne sits down with Hannah Johnson to explore a rarely named but deeply felt part of the postpartum experience: toxic positivity.

    Together, they gently unpack how well-intended phrases like "stay positive," "be grateful," and "you've got this" can unintentionally dismiss the very real exhaustion, anxiety, grief and identity shifts that many new mothers experience after birth.

    Hannah shares her honest postpartum journey, including the emotional cost of hiding her true feelings, the pressure to perform gratitude and how postpartum anxiety and depression can hide behind a smile.

    In this episode, we talk about:

    - When encouragement stops feeling supportive

    - How toxic positivity impacts postpartum mental health

    - Postpartum anxiety and depression in new mothers

    - The emotional and identity shifts of matrescence

    - What authentic postpartum support actually looks and sounds like

    We also spotlight Hannah's meaningful work at No Filter Postpartum

    This episode is a reminder that you don't need to be more positive, you need to be more supported.
