• When Your Body Stops Working: How Elevated Cortisol Affects Mothers (And What Actually Helps)
    Jan 21 2026

One afternoon in October, my body stopped working. I couldn't move my legs. I couldn't stand.

Three months later, I'm sharing what I've learned about chronic cortisol elevation, why pregnant and postpartum mothers are particularly vulnerable, and what's actually helping me recover - not generic stress advice, but specific practices from my training as a prenatal yoga teacher and hypnobirthing instructor.

My physical therapist and my therapist - in different countries, not knowing each other - both gave me the exact same diagnosis. What followed were three months of professional support, implementing changes, and truly understanding how our bodies work when stress becomes chronic.

    In This Episode:

    • My physical breakdown and the four days I couldn't stand
    • Why two professionals independently reached the same conclusion
    • The perimenopause question and whether it's linked
    • Why cortisol gets blamed unfairly
    • The difference between adrenaline and cortisol
    • Why pregnant mothers face compounded stress
    • How postpartum hormones help you function on little sleep
    • Why I stopped intense exercise and why I'm only now rebuilding
    • Specific practices that can help mums

I'm still rebuilding. I'm not fully recovered. But I've learned enough to share what's genuinely helping.

  • Why New Year Resolutions Don't Work for Pregnant & Postnatal Mums
    Dec 29 2025

If you're pregnant, recently given birth, or raising small children, the traditional "New Year, New You" narrative doesn't fit your life right now.

In this episode, I'm talking about why goal-setting looks different during this phase of life, where the pressure actually comes from, and what I'm doing differently this year.

I share real stories from my holidays with four kids (including twin toddlers who nap at 6pm and destroy Christmas trees), why I finally rested without apologising, and how I'm approaching 2026 with one word instead of a list of goals.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Real talk about the holidays with small kids (the chaos, exhaustion, and FOMO)
    • Why you live in a different reality when you're pregnant or raising babies
    • Where goal-setting pressure actually comes from (hint: men on social media)
    • Why you need to know where you are before you can move forward
    • My story about looking at lives touched instead of business numbers
    • My word for 2026: space (and what that means practically)
    • How to find your own word for the year
    • A moment of gratitude for this community

  • Is Pilates the New Yoga? What Pregnant & Postnatal Women Need to Know
    Dec 22 2025

In this episode, I explore the rise of Pilates and ask: Is it replacing yoga? And if so, what does that mean for women navigating pregnancy, birth, and motherhood?

I share my personal experience with both Pilates and yoga (I go to Pilates once a week and used to teach Yogalates!), acknowledge the huge overlap between the two practices, and explain why yoga's deeper dimensions (breathwork, philosophy, mudras, and mantras) are exactly what pregnant and postnatal women need during one of the biggest transitions of their lives.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

Why Pilates is having a moment (and why that's okay)

Where Pilates and yoga actually overlap (spoiler: a lot)

The key difference: yoga includes everything Pilates does, plus another dimension

How sitting in silence together creates a different kind of connection

Living yoga vs. performing yoga, and why it matters

  • 5 Hypnobirthing Mistakes I Made in My First Pregnancy (That You Should Avoid)
    Sep 22 2025

In this episode of the Yoga Bellies and Babies Podcast, host Krishna Hassomal opens up about her personal journey with hypnobirthing, sharing the five biggest mistakes she made during her first birth and how she overcame them in subsequent pregnancies.

Aimed at expectant and new mothers, as well as anyone interested in mindful birth preparation, Krishna discusses the realities of hypnobirthing beyond the common myths. She reflects on her own experiences, from a challenging hospital induction to a calm home birth, highlighting the importance of thorough preparation, flexibility, and involving birth partners in the process.

Krishna emphasizes that hypnobirthing is not just about reading a book or listening to tracks once, but about consistent practice, mental and emotional readiness, and open communication with both partners and medical staff. She also addresses the need to prepare for different birth scenarios, not just the ideal plan, and the value of “cheesy” mental preparation like affirmations and positive visualizations.

Listeners will come away with practical strategies for effective hypnobirthing, including daily practice, balancing physical and mental preparation, and reprogramming subconscious beliefs about birth. Krishna also invites listeners to a free workshop, “Calm, Confident, and Ready,” for deeper learning and support.
