  • Dreams from the Street with Dr. Paul Watsky
    Oct 1 2026

San Francisco Jungian analyst Paul Watsky, PhD, interprets three volunteer "person on the street" volunteers' dreams to demonstrate how he would approach dreamwork in his practice.

Though Dr. Watsky suggests possible meanings for the dreams, he is clear that these are only hypotheses to guide further inquiry. The purpose here is not to make a clinical assessment, rather it is to illustrate a Jungian analyst's approach to dreamwork with the caveat that there is not enough information in these vignettes to make any definitive conclusions.

This episode would not be possible without the generosity of our three dreamers who granted us permission to share their dreams plus a few details about their lives. We don't use their real names in the episode. To be clear, our volunteer dreamers are not psychotherapy patients.

  • Complexes and Consciousness
    Sep 15 2026

Join host Sebastian Sheldon, PhD, in conversation with his fellow candidate in analytical training at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, Robert Carriger, LMFT, as they explore the theoretical possibilities when Jung's concept of unconscious complexes is applied to consciousness in general. Expanding Jung's original concept of complexes to include all conscious experience leads to such surreal possibilities as full consciousness being a sort of daytime waking dream, and even points to a potential for dual centers of sentience that operate simultaneously in one mind.

This episode was our third try at recording a podcast back in 2024, an experiment with no thoughts that it would ever be published. Given the freedom to just say what he thinks without needing to worry about qualifying his ideas or citing the literature, Robert runs with it, accompanied and encouraged by fellow student Sebastian.

We hope that whatever this episode lacks in academic niceties, it makes up for in the passionate energy of the conversation: a conversation between two students wrestling with questions which really matter to them. We invite you to listen in.

  • F.N. Souza: The Archetypal Artist with Janeita Singh
    Sep 1 2026

Host Robert Carriger sits down to speak with art scholar Janeita Singh about the controversial modernist painter from Goa, India: Francis Newton Souza. Janeita approaches Souza's paintings from a variety of perspectives including the collective western shadow and repression of the feminine. She sees recent interest in Souza's work as signaling a return into collective consciousness of the ancient Indian traditions of the fierce feminine, traditions long buried under centuries of colonial rule. She has explored these and other themes in her recently released book, "F.N. Souza: The Archetypal Artist."

  • Odysseus under Calypso's Spell: The Seductive Power of Conspiracies
    Aug 1 2026

*Content Warning: Episode contains discussion of an age-old conspiratorial belief that a secret society is carrying out ritualized child abuse in order to extract a fabled life giving elixir.*

At the 2025 International Association of Analytical Psychology conference in Zurich, Robert Carriger and Claire Kohne got the opportunity to talk to conference presenter Jungian analyst Vlado Šolc about his application of Jungian theory to the understanding of conspiracies and cults. Dr. Šolc draws from Greek mythology and the legend of Odysseus' seven year captivity on the island of Ogygia under the spell of the nymph Calypso to explain the phenomena of dark religion and cults. In mythology Calypso is the personification of concealment - or covering - from which the Greek word apokálypsis - apocalypse - is derived which means "uncovering" or "revelation."
