  • Field Notes #36: She’s Girthy, Wet Is Miserable & Gear Gets Personal Ep. 110
    Oct 24 2026

She’s girthy, the weather refuses to cooperate, and sometimes the “best” gear setup comes down to personal preference.

In Field Notes #36, we’re back with more customer stories, gear questions, behind-the-scenes updates, and whatever else is happening around Canvas Cutter.

This week, we hear from a hunter heading deep into elk and moose country with a recurve, a Summit 3.0, and an old Dominator—plus some serious praise for the Bedrock Air Pad. We also hear from a Burro Duffel owner who discovered the bag holds a whole lot more than it looks like it should and put the dirty-clothes divider to work.

Then we dig into a thoughtful Summit 3.0 question from a customer in the Northeast dealing with cold temperatures, nonstop rain, condensation, and the realities of setting up after hours of hiking in wet weather.

It opens up a bigger conversation about tradeoffs in gear design, exterior versus interior pole systems, durability, condensation, and why there isn’t always one “perfect” answer for everybody.

We’ve also got another Bedroll Baptism on the way, new content about the generational side of Canvas Cutter and hunting, a Cutter Cast episode about the Burro and Mule Duffels, extended archery content, and Father Wisdom’s late-season muzzleloader hunt coming up.

And don’t forget: October’s Dominator Owners Club giveaway is a HOWL R1 Propane Fire Pit with carry bag, a $540 value.

Rain happens. Gear has tradeoffs. And apparently some bags are just girthy.

    Let’s get after it.

  • Kyle Paxman's Alaska Moose Hunt: Bad Luck, Giant Bears & One Wild Ending
    Oct 19 2026

Alaska is supposed to be the trip of a lifetime.Sometimes it is. Just not in the way you expect. In this episode of The Cutter Cast, Seth and Jake sit down with Kyle Paxman to hear the full story of his recent Alaska moose hunt, including the highs, the lows, and what felt like an almost endless string of bad luck.Kyle went into the hunt with big expectations, but after days of glassing without seeing a legal bull, encounters with bears, sightings of some absolutely massive bears, and plenty of frustration, the reality of hunting Alaska started to look a little different than the dream. Then a giant bull finally showed up.What happened next only added another twist to a hunt that rarely seemed to go according to plan.By the end of the trip, Kyle was one of only three hunters out of a group of eighteen to put a tag on a bull moose, but even that success came in a way he never expected. And somehow, getting home managed to become its own adventure.Kyle breaks down the entire experience, what he learned, what he would do differently, and why this trip might change the way you think about an Alaska moose hunt, or at least help keep your expectations realistic.Giant country. Giant bears. Giant expectations. And a hunt that refused to follow the script.--------------------------------------------------------------If you want spam-free notifications, updates, information and deals on Canvas Cutter products and content sign up for our Email and SMS by clicking the link: https://canvascutter.com/pages/cutter-crew#signupCheck us out at:Website: https://canvascutter.com/pages/canvas-cutter-brandFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/canvascutter/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/canvascutter/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@canvascutter

  • Field Notes #35: “It’s Worth It,” Bear Snacks & Elk Down Ep. 108
    Oct 17 2026

Apparently the Dominator 3.0 is worth it, we need to make it darker inside, and yes, another elk is down.

In Field Notes #35, we’re back with another round of customer stories, questions, hunting updates, and whatever else is happening around Canvas Cutter right now.

This week, we hear from a Dominator 3.0 owner who put his setup to work at 8,500 feet in the Arizona mountains and came away calling it the perfect bedroll. We also hear from a 6'5" customer who proved once again that, yes, tall guys really can fit inside a Dominator, this time while motorcycle camping with a pretty serious sleep setup.

Then we get into the important questions.

Will a Dominator fit on a motorcycle? Can we make it even darker inside? And if sleeping in a bedroll makes you a “bear snack,” does sleeping in a full-size tent make the whole family a bear buffet?

We’ve also got more hunting content on the way, T is out overlanding, extended archery season is still rolling, and Father Wisdom’s late-season muzzleloader hunt is coming up.

Plus, October’s Dominator Owners Club giveaway is a HOWL R1 Propane Fire Pit with carry bag, a $540 value.

Good reviews. Good questions. Elk down.

    Let’s get after it.
