She’s girthy, the weather refuses to cooperate, and sometimes the “best” gear setup comes down to personal preference.
In Field Notes #36, we’re back with more customer stories, gear questions, behind-the-scenes updates, and whatever else is happening around Canvas Cutter.
This week, we hear from a hunter heading deep into elk and moose country with a recurve, a Summit 3.0, and an old Dominator—plus some serious praise for the Bedrock Air Pad. We also hear from a Burro Duffel owner who discovered the bag holds a whole lot more than it looks like it should and put the dirty-clothes divider to work.
Then we dig into a thoughtful Summit 3.0 question from a customer in the Northeast dealing with cold temperatures, nonstop rain, condensation, and the realities of setting up after hours of hiking in wet weather.
It opens up a bigger conversation about tradeoffs in gear design, exterior versus interior pole systems, durability, condensation, and why there isn’t always one “perfect” answer for everybody.
We’ve also got another Bedroll Baptism on the way, new content about the generational side of Canvas Cutter and hunting, a Cutter Cast episode about the Burro and Mule Duffels, extended archery content, and Father Wisdom’s late-season muzzleloader hunt coming up.
And don’t forget: October’s Dominator Owners Club giveaway is a HOWL R1 Propane Fire Pit with carry bag, a $540 value.
Rain happens. Gear has tradeoffs. And apparently some bags are just girthy.
Let’s get after it.
