Music. It makes the world go round, it's imbedded in our lives.


Whether your taste was shaped from your parents record collection, friends mixtapes, or the latest hits from the radio, these artists form important memories, they make you sing, laugh, cry and dance.


Talking about podcast was formed from an idea by two lifelong friends, James Gentle & Phil Reynolds' love of the band REM and has evolved in to a regular look in to their favourite bands both old and new.


After episode 1 they recruit their guest Gareth Norman after he impressed them both so much with his smooth voice and lengthy beard to join them on the journey.


Each episode will take a deep-ish yet light hearted dive into the history of a different band or artist. We'll discuss our take our take on their footprint in history whilst discussing how they've played a part in our lives...or not.


There will be be guests, lists, fun and games to be had on the way. We will even throw in a regular Spotify playlist along the way for you to listen to our favourite tracks.

    Yes! Recorded in June 2025, next up on the Talking About journey...NIRVANA!!!

    This band had a huge influence on us as well as millions around the world. They changed music forever and are arguably one of the most important bands of the last 40 years.

    We dive into how that happened and ask the question, what would Nirvana sound like now if they were still together?

    We have no guest this week but the recruitment team have been on fine form and delved into the transfer market to make one of the smartest transfers since Eric Cantona joined Manchester United from Leeds back in the early nineties. Gareth (our guest from Episode 1) impressed us so much that we’ve recruited him as co-host to help us turn the podcast world on its head!

    So James and Gareth will battle it out in the lyrics game again and there is plenty of tomfoolery to match!

    Recorded in 2024, our first episode was designed to be the start of a weekly look at a guests life through the eyes of the music of the band R.E.M.

    Our first guest is a long time friend of ours, Gareth Norman, a man who's beard is as great as his love for R.E.M.

    We take a look into his life through music. From his Dad's record collection to his introduction to R.E.M. From his childhood to the present day, we'll discover what R.E.M. means to him and what his favourite albums and tracks are.

    James and Gareth also face off in a lyrics game for the ages, who will be crowned the champion?
