Sintesi dell'editore
In which our heroes talk s*** about the 1994 seminal album from Green Day; Dookie.
As it's 30 years old at the beginning of this month we thought it should be our Record of the Week for the first podcast of this year and we're taking the opportunity to re-post this episode from 2021 where a couple of inexperienced podcasters shout over each other about Dookie.
This is an album that's really important for Sam but certainly opened doors for Rob back in 1994 when he was still open to listening to stuff from outside of Seattle!
We discuss, among other things, the bands output over a nearly 30 year career, getting kids up on stage to play guitar and the concept of selling out. The whole "are Green Day punk?" question gets knocked about, we trace the music of Green Day through to the mid 2000's emo scene and Rob has a hot take attributing the albums mega sales to the premature death of Kurt Cobain.
Its a proper rambling bulls***ty kind of a podcast this one but isn't that the point.
