January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and in honor of this and all victims and survivors, I wanted to spread a bit of awareness, based on the work I've done in my own community over the past 15 years.  I also share a spoken word piece that I wrote about 10 years ago as a compilation of several people's stories.   These are real people who have overcome so much because they had support and resources.  

We can all do SOMETHING to help prevent this horrific crime and also to help those who have been impacted by it...and the truth is...we are ALL impacted by it whether we know it or not.

Could the pursuit of pleasure be causing us more pain?  Most of us are aware of how Dopamine increases our experience of pleasure but that's only part of the story.  There's a mechanism in our brains that is constantly working to regulate our neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine.  Without a solid awareness of hat regulation process, we can become crucially vulnerable to all sorts of addictive behaviors or getting caught up in the hamster wheel of unconsciousness.

Another "Darren Experience" in the books!  In this conversation, Darren and I explored  traditional masculine and feminine roles and values that have been played out and expected in society and how they could be disempowering and actually throw us off balance in sex and relationships.

I came away from this conversation with a vital question to ponder:  "How have the boxes we have created for men and women, queer or straight, etc. impacted us as individuals, couples and as a society and what will it take to move into a more expansive state of full presence, authenticity and consciousness?"

In this episode, I wanted to share some thoughts about a NY congressional candidate who made a porno and uploaded it to pornhub to "demonstrate his commitment to his sex positive agenda".  Was this a stunt to gain attention for the independent candidate?  Maybe, but when we look closer at some aspects of  his sex positive agenda, the porno is of much less concern to me.  

I also address my  personal thoughts about the term "sex positive" and why I think it could be doing more harm than good.  I had so much more to say and so much more that I wanted to address!  Please feel free to comment on my social media pages, send an email, etc to let me know your thoughts.
