    Oct 21 2026

Nevermore! Welcome to pcmc Halloween 2026! We're still in October, and we're still giving you Halloween specials all month long. On today's show, Mike is joined, once again, by the lovely and incredible Jennifer Grace Litrell. The topic of the day is the influence of Edgar Allan Poe on children's media. Mike and Jen sit down to discuss Wishbone: "The Pawloined Paper" and Boy Meets World: "The Fugitive." Two episodes inspired by Poe stories that come from two shows Jen loved as a kid (and still love now). This is a great episode for the scaredy-cats out there! If you like what you hear, come back next week for our final Poe-down!

TRIGGER WARNING - Violence against Animals

Nevermore! Welcome to pcmc Halloween 2026! Our annual month-long celebration of the greatest time of year! On today's show we continue this year's focus on the work of the great Edgar Allan Poe. In this episode, Mike and regular guest, Anthony Bongiorno, got together to discuss some selected literature by Poe. It's a deep dive into the language, tone, and meaning behind the short stories "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Black Cat." But that's not all! Mike and Anthony also discuss and analyze Poe's most enduring poem, "The Raven." This episode gets super-nerdy and that's how we like it. If you like what you hear, come back next week for mo' Poe!

Nevermore! Welcome to pcmc Halloween 2026! Our yearly month-long Halloween festival of frights! This year on the show our theme is Edgar Allan Poe. Every week in October, tune in for a Poe-tastic Halloween special. On today's episode, Mike and long-time friend of the show, Nadia, are discussing the film Spirits of the Dead (1968). An anthology film that adapts three of the lesser known tales of Poe. The stories are "Metzengerstein" (starring Jane Fonda!), "William Wilson," and "Toby Dammit (which is an adaptation of the short story "Never Bet the Devil Your Head"). The film is weird, sexy, and surreal and a perfect start to the spooky season. If you like what you hear, come back next week!
