Hello! Welcome to pcmc, your one-stop-shop for non-toxic fandom and pop culture ephemera! On today's show, host Mike Bongiorno is joined by friend of the podcast Peter Marsh (The Lasser Cast / Comic Books Transformed). Mike and Peter are big fans of the oddball sci-fi/horror screenwriter Dan O'Bannon, and this is the first episode in a series of podcasts looking at his work. Dan O'Bannon is most notably the co-writer of the classic film Alien (1979), but on today's episode of pcmc the film in discussion is Dark Star (1974). A sci-fi comedy about hippies in space wallowing their lives away working for an evil corporation. Dark Star is not just Dan O'Bannon's first movie, but the first movie from legendary director John Carpenter. If you like this episode, come back next week for a discussion focusing on another film by Dan O'Bannon. And if you enjoy pcmc, please subscribe to pcmc wherever you get your podcasts, or leave us a review. It would be greatly appreciated.
