  • The Night The Cameras Lost Brian Schaffer
    Jul 17 2026

    Send me your thoughts!

A surveillance camera catches Brian Schaffer outside a packed Columbus bar at 1:55 a.m. He chats with two women, looks relaxed, turns toward the entrance, and steps out of frame. Then the story stops cooperating. No clear footage of him leaving. No calls to his girlfriend. No spring break flight to Miami. No bank activity. Just a 27-year-old Ohio State medical student who becomes a name on posters and a face frozen in a few seconds of grainy video.

We take this case slowly and on purpose, because Brian is a real person and the difference between fact and rumor is the difference between help and harm. We map the Ugly Tuna Saloona and the South Campus Gateway complex, talk about why 2006 surveillance coverage creates the illusion of certainty, and explain how a missing “next step” can trap an investigation for decades. We also zoom out to Brian’s life, his grief after losing his mom, his relationship with Alexis, and why emotional context should never be treated like a verdict.

From there, we walk through the major theories and the missing evidence each one would require: a missed exit route followed by an accident, possible foul play in a closing-time crowd, the lure and limits of construction-area explanations, the reality behind “the phone rang,” and why polygraph talk tends to generate heat instead of light. We end with the most honest conclusion a cold case allows: we can weigh what’s plausible, but we cannot replace uncertainty with a convenient suspect.

If you care about careful true crime, unsolved disappearances, and cold case investigation, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find Brian’s story. What detail do you think is the missing bridge?

  • Jennifer Kesse Disappearance: The Car, the Camera & the Fence
    Jun 21 2026

    Send me your thoughts!

Jennifer Kesse vanished from Orlando in 2006, leaving behind one of the most frustrating clues in modern missing-person cases: surveillance footage of an unidentified person parking her black Chevy Malibu while a fence blocks their face in every critical frame.

In this episode of Cold Cases, Hot Paces' deep dive walks through Jennifer’s timeline, the Mosaic at Millenia condo, the construction-worker theory, workplace questions, investigative missteps, Florida missing-person law changes, and recent FDLE and DNA developments.

Jennifer is still missing. Anyone with information should contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or the official Jennifer Kesse tip line.
