Welcome in everybody to THE LAST EPISODE for The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast!

This final episode wraps up on one of the best DCI seasons I’ve seen in a while. 2024 was a summer that put the activity back on the map in my opinion as so many groups put their best shows to date on the field, and it’s got me in high spirits about what’s to come for the future of Drum Corps International.

I made sure to include as much as I could from experience in Indy over the two days I was there, but my phone was on 10% for the last 4 corps, so I had to use my videos sparingly! I also give my closing remarks on the Top 12 after seeing everyone live, and I give a sneak peak into the future of Meet The Bus.

Welcome in everybody to The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast!

In today's episode, we're keeping it short and sweet. I got word from a good friend from my time at Blue Knights, Juan Rutiaga, that he volunteered for the week during Texas Tour and put some videos together of the corps. I also sat down for a fun conversation with Joey Teixeira where we recapped the Atlanta Regional as well as our overall thoughts on the shows and rankings.

Lastly, I AM GOING TO BE IN INDIANAPOLIS FOR FINALS WEEK!!

Well...at least Thursday and Friday! It's going to be my first time since I was in the activity that I'll be watching drum corps at Lucas Oil, and it's going to be a blast!

Welcome in everybody to The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast!

We are back again for a PACKED episode of drum corps, so I hope you got your popcorn ready!

For today's episode, I started by recapping the beginning of the 2024 DCI Season, and where groups are stacking up in the rankings as we head into the San Antonio Regional. We then kick it to some early tour content from 2 DIFFERENT SHOWS!! I got the opportunity to get some coverage from the DCI Muncie show that started the 2024 season, and it was such a blast to be a fan again. I got to see so many old friends and teachers of mine who are now flourishing in all different areas of the activity. I made sure to get everything from lot coverage, hornlines warming up in the lot, and some show chunks from all 6 corps who performed that night. We also have some more exclusive show content from returning guest of the podcast, Riley Fitzpatrick! Riley was out at the DCI Idaho show, and got some great clips of all the corps in attendance that night as well as a special encore from the Blue Knights!

We also got the opportunity to catch up with the member interviews again from our two stars, Matthew Iida and Alberto Paulino. I got to get some deeper insight into both The Blue Devils and Pacific Crest productions and how the groups are feeling after starting the competitive part of the season.

Before we wrapped for episode 2, I decided to bring on a special guest from The Guardians Visual Staff, Dylan Rider! We got into what's happening in their season this year and the challenges that Open Class groups face during the course of a whole summer.

Welcome in everybody to The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast!

We're starting something new again with this one! I've talked about this idea of doing a summer series throughout the 2024 DCI Season, so finally after some moving, more moving and starting a new job I got the chance to pick the mic back up and talk some drum corps! I know I'm a little late to the party, so I'm gonna try my best to catch back up with everyone else!

In this first episode, I do my best to quickly catch you (the viewer) up to date on WHY I haven't posted in 2 months. Big thank you to Alberto Paulino and Matthew Iida for taking the time out of their days to do an interview for the podcast as well because they were absolutely incredible, and I could not be more excited to see what Pacific Crest and The Blue Devils have to bring to the field this summer.

The really fun part of this video, and it's something I'd love to keep doing throughout the summer was done by the one and only, Joey Teixeira. He got some great footage of the Mandarins hornline as well as some behind the scenes action and interviews with members of the corps! Joey also got the opportunity to attend BD's family day for 2024, and again got some great behind the scenes content of the event as well as some funny behind the scenes interviews with members of the Blue Devils hornline.

We have special surprise for this one as well as Joey got to sit down for a 1-on-1 interview with the Brass Caption Head of The Blue Devils, Chip Crotts!

Welcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast!

This week, we decided to call a quick audible and change up the regularly scheduled program to talk about some new partnerships that have been created recently with DCI. There has been a lot of negative news for Drum Corps International in the last couple years whether it's COVID or multiple groups having to fold whether it's for a season or some have had to completely fold up, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about the exciting future of this activity! I brought my good friend and first seat partner in DCI, Riley Fitzpatrick back on for this episode (you can also find him in episode 3 and 7 of this podcast for more stories and getting to know the boy) and we had a really fun time just taking a look at what drum corps is doing to keep the future bright.

Welcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast!

In this weeks episode, we continue introducing the members who we will be following for the 2024 DCI season in our summer series! This episode, we had Alberto Paulino on who's been a Mellophone player with Pacific Crest since 2022 and will be with them again this summer! We got to talk about so many awesome things within this activity that have happened the last two seasons along with all of the incredible things that PC has also accomplished in '22 and '23. Alberto also tells a DOPE story about the time he made a beat while he had Covid during the '22 season that ended up turning into a really sweet song from an artist who opened up for GZA in LA during the '23 season! I've really enjoyed getting to hear from the current members of the activity the last couple weeks because it's just so cool to hear that prospective of someone who's in the mix!!

Welcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast!

This week, we are starting to introduce the people who will be apart of the performer summer series for this upcoming 2024 DCI Season. In this episode, I got the chance to meet and talk with Clark Fitzgerald who's been a trumpet player for the Spirit of Atlanta since 2020. This was the first episode where we had a member on who has not marched pre-covid years, so it was really interesting to see the perspective of someone who's only been apart of this new era of DCI. Clark has such an interesting story from not getting to do his first summer due to covid, his first season was the shortened 2021 season, can't do 2022 due to SOA folding and then finally gets to do a full season in 2023, but now he's the section leader and the only vet IN HIS SECTION. We got to get into some great conversation talking about ast summer, and it being such a special one for SOA.

Welcome Back to The Meet The Bus Podcast!

We're hearing from the people that give you all your profile pictures that have your sick action shots in them, and they promote your corps online and make them look really cool.....THE MEDIA TEAM. I got to learn so much in this episode from my guest, Sam Mohler. We got to cover his wild performing career which made him become a drum major in his rookie year due to an injury we talk about in the episode! I also got to learn the history of how the media game has evolved in DCI, and hear about a day in the life and how much goes into being apart of a media team in this activity. We have a very important conversation as well at the end of the episode about the recent folding of The Cadets that I think perfectly paints how we should look at future situations like this if they come up.
