  • A 44-POUND LOG. A 7-YEAR-OLD BOY. GUILTY.
    Oct 23 2026
On October 21, 2026, a Manitowoc County, Wisconsin jury found Timothy Hauschultz guilty on four of six counts — child neglect resulting in death, contributing to the delinquency of a child, and two counts of being a party to the physical abuse of a child — in the 2018 death of his 7-year-old great-nephew, Ethan Hauschultz. The boy died on April 20, 2018, after being forced to carry a 44.4-pound wooden log around the backyard in freezing conditions as punishment for failing to memorize Bible verses. Prosecutors said Timothy picked the log himself and told his teenage son Damian to supervise the punishment. After twelve hours and twenty minutes of deliberation over two days, the jury split its verdict, convicting on four counts and acquitting on two. Sentencing is set for January 15. • A STOLEN PHONE. A LAUNDROMAT. A LIFE SENTENCE.
    Oct 23 2026
On October 22, 2026, a Tennessee jury convicted 22-year-old Kevin Jaimes Martinez of first-degree murder — and the judge ordered him to serve a life sentence. In Tennessee, that means 51 years before he can even face the parole board. The crime happened on December 19, 2024, on Washington Pike in Knoxville. Martinez believed the victim had stolen his brother's cell phone. Surveillance video captured the chilling sequence: Martinez walked from behind a laundromat to the victim's parked car, went back behind the building, returned, opened the car door — and shot the man inside. He fled to Nashville and was arrested at the Greyhound bus station while on his way to California. District Attorney General Charme Allen praised the quick work of the Knoxville Police Department, assisted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Metro Nashville Police Department. • SIXTEEN WHEN HE KILLED. LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE.
    Oct 23 2026
Mayel Porter was sixteen years and seven months old when 16-year-old Joshua Huff was shot and killed outside an apartment complex on Cross Tie Court in Columbus, Georgia, on November 19, 2022. A Muscogee County jury convicted Porter of murder in September 2026. On October 19, Superior Court Judge Maureen Gottfried sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole — while co-defendant Gregory Harris, acquitted of murder but convicted of armed robbery and aggravated assault, received 35 years, co-defendant Malik Lewis was found not guilty, and a fourth defendant, Kaleb Gosha, remains wanted after failing to appear. This episode breaks down the robbery-spree evidence, the split verdict, and why the law allows life without parole for a juvenile offender — from Miller v. Alabama to Jones v. Mississippi. • CHEST-BUMPING OVER A BODY. LIFE IN PRISON.
    Oct 22 2026
On October 21, 2026, a Florida judge sentenced Rigoberto Duval to life in prison for the 2023 murder of Edmund Glover — and the evidence that sealed his fate was a video of Duval celebrating minutes after the killing, chest-bumping "like it's a touchdown in a football game." This episode breaks down the ambush at a West Palm Beach condominium, the fugitive manhunt that ended in Panama, the psychology of killers who celebrate their crimes, and why that footage destroyed any hope of mercy in court. • AN ABANDONED HOUSE. TWO SUSPECTS. ONE $865,000 BOND.
    Oct 22 2026
Nine months after Elton Richardson, 44, was found dead in an abandoned structure off Decatur Highway in Ten Mile, Tennessee, a Roane County grand jury indicted Mitchel Crass, 43, on first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence — the second arrest in the case after Zackary Lowe was charged within days of the body's discovery. This episode reconstructs the TBI's nine-month build and analyzes what the conspiracy and evidence-tampering charges reveal about the prosecution's case theory, with my own commentary throughout. Based on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation press release (via WVLT and 102.5 WOW Country, Oct 21–22, 2026); both men are charged, not convicted, and are presumed innocent — new episodes every day, follow the podcast.
