Heart Work After Betrayal

For Christian wives rebuilding trust after infidelity

Are you a Christian wife trying to rebuild trust after infidelity? Do you feel alone, triggered, and torn between healing your marriage and protecting your heart?

Have you been asking questions like:

- How do I heal from the pain and broken trust after infidelity?

- How do I rebuild trust after cheating?

- How do I know whether to stay or leave?

- How do I forgive without losing myself?

- How do I find emotional healing and safety again?

- How do I reconnect with God, myself, and my spouse after betrayal?

If that sounds like you, this podcast is for you.

Heart Work After Betrayal is for Christian wives who are married, have walked through infidelity, and want help navigating the pain, confusion, triggers, trauma, and loss of identity that often follow betrayal. Maybe you struggle with intense loneliness because of the broken trust by the one who was supposed to be your partner for life and feel like a rug has been pulled out from under you. Or you feel overwhelmed with the pain but still having to show up either for your kids or at work. Or you feel like you should be further along already since it’s been a few months or even years ago when you found out about the betrayal. This space is here to help you feel seen, supported, and grounded.

I’m Julia Carlton, Relationship Coach and Certified 5 Voices Practitioner. After experiencing the pain of infidelity in my own marriage, I learned that healing after betrayal does not begin by trying to fix everything overnight. It begins by rebuilding trust in yourself, rebuilding your spiritual foundation, and rebuilding relational trust with wisdom, honesty, and emotional safety.

Each week on this Christian marriage podcast, we focus on:

  • rebuilding trust in yourself after betrayal

  • rebuilding your spiritual foundation and restoring your identity in Christ

  • rebuilding relational trust and discerning reconciliation wisely

  • emotional healing and safety after infidelity

  • how to trust again after cheating

  • move towards healing your marriage without ignoring the pain

  • healthy boundaries, forgiveness, and communication

  • finding support when you feel alone in betrayal recovery

HEART WORK after Betrayal is about doing the deep heart work required to rebuild trust with yourself and God first, restore identity, walk in forgiveness, and move forward with strength and clarity.

If you are looking for faith-based support after infidelity and want personal help rebuilding trust and discerning your next steps, I also offer private 1:1 Heart Work Coaching for Christian wives healing after betrayal.

Healing is possible. Trust can be rebuilt. Emotional safety can be restored. And if reconciliation is right, a renewed relationship can be pursued with wisdom, faith, and truth.

    • Why pain wants all of your attention, and what happens when your eyes stay on the wound
    • The difference between honest lament and letting the pain define God
    • What the story about a bronze serpent on a pole teaches about healing, and why Jesus said it was about Him
    • Why God is the Lifter of your head, and what David knew about betrayal
    • The one-word shift in Psalm 23 that happens in the darkest part of the valley
    • A second question to add to your Psalm 23 Mornings

This episode is part of The Heart Reset, a four-week series walking through the 30-Day Heart Reset Map. If you came to my Heart Reset workshop, this is the companion to Week 2 of your map. If you didn't, you can still follow along easily.

We're in Week 2: See Him. I share the drawing from my workshop of a woman with her head bowed, staring at her broken heart, and walk through three truths: pain wants to take over; look up and live; and God is the Lifter of your head. We look at Numbers 21, where God's people were healed by looking up at the bronze serpent, and at John 3, where Jesus says that story pointed to Him. Then we see how, in Psalm 23, David's voice changes in the valley, from "He" to "You."

    • The answer to the lie "I'm on my own"
    • Week 2 of the 30-Day Heart Reset Map: a simple 5-minute morning practice

This episode is part of The Heart Reset, a four-week series walking through the 30-Day Heart Reset Map. If you came to my Heart Reset workshop, this is the companion to Week 2 of your map. If you didn't, you can walk it with us right here, one week at a time.

In Week 1, we looked at the fear underneath survival mode and the lie that says, "I'm on my own." This week is about focusing on how we see Him. After betrayal, our picture of God can get blurry, and the storm reveals what we really believe. In this shaky season the enemy will tempt us to doubt God's goodness. Today we open Psalm 23 and meet a Shepherd who feeds, guides, and shields, and who promises, "You are with me," right in the valley. Then I give you this week's practice: Psalm 23 Mornings.

    Have you been asking yourself:

Why do I feel like I have to hold everything together?

Why can't I just let my guard down?

Will I ever feel safe again?

    You'll Walk Away With...

    • The one lie underneath your survival mode: "I'm on my own"
    • How to catch that lie in your own "I have to" sentences
    • What the very first fear in the Bible (Genesis 3) reveals about why we hide after betrayal
    • Why God's question, "Where are you?", is an invitation, not an accusation
    • Why the answer to fear isn't a stronger you, but a present God
    • One simple practice to add to this week's Heart Check

This episode is part of The Heart Reset, a four-week series walking through the 30-Day Heart Reset Map: See Yourself, See Him, Decide, and Tend. Each week has a Monday Heart Check and a Thursday Deep Dive.

We're in Week 1: See Yourself. In Episode 72, we talked about how every survival mode is protecting you from a fear. Today we go one layer deeper, to the lie underneath that fear. I share the sentence I didn't know I believed, "Trust no one but myself," and walk through three truths: survival mode runs on the lie that you're on your own; that lie is as old as the garden; and the answer to it is a Person, not a feeling. We look at Genesis 3, where God comes looking for hiding hearts, and Hebrews 13, where He promises, "I will not, I will not, I will not… leave you or forsake you."

New here? Start with Episodes 66 and 67 on survival mode, then Episode 72, then come back to this one.
