    The Cover (Side A)
You might have heard eight tapes. You have never heard this reel. In a room with no number at the top of the Mors Delectamenti Hotel, a captive knight sits across the table from a reel-to-reel recorder that talks back. It calls itself Lou Phillips. It used to work in radio. It has notes, and the first one is brutal: too sane, burn it, nobody climbs a mountain for sane. Side A takes you behind the first four tapes: the burned takes, the talk between takes, and the long, strange business of manufacturing a summons in a voice that isn't quite his own. There's a bartender who tells the same joke wrong on purpose, a Manager who hums a lullaby older than the building's ledgers, and an invitation on cream stock requesting the pleasure of his company. At brunch. Everything records. Whether it happened is a mixing decision. Side B picks up with Track Five.

    Episode 2_The Vizier
    Jul 8 2026
THE MORS DELECTAMENTI HOTEL — Episode Two: "The Vizier" A man who has spent thirty years deciding which version of events is permitted to survive is now making a record of his own. By choice, he insists. On a device he carried up the mountain himself. Izlanor Leohanart, Royal Vizier to the Principality of Vintenshad, ascends Carbowee Mountain in a private carriage, stripped of his wards at the gate, permitted to keep only a book and a recorder. He has been to this hotel before. He knows what stands on the summit. He knows what is appointed to occur beneath it tonight. And he is climbing anyway, because the only alternative is to remain at a gate in the cold and say aloud the reason he cannot. Three weeks ago, a knight of the Cerulean Academy played him a recording of a young man's voice and studied his face to learn what it would do. The knight recorded what he saw as a confession. Let him. The second guest checks in. The vizier does not remain at gates. The hotel has been expecting him — it remembers all its guests, especially the ones who insist they are only here on business of the crown.

  • THE HAWK OF VINTENSHAD — A Special Episode

THE HAWK OF VINTENSHAD — A Special Episode
    Jul 7 2026
THE HAWK OF VINTENSHAD — A Special Episode In 1961, a folklorist named Emeric Sallow published the only study ever written of the folk culture of Vintenshad: the proverbs, fables, hymns, and nursery songs of a small mountain principality that taught its children to be still beneath the bird. The book was withdrawn by its publisher within eleven months. No reason was ever given. Sallow returned to the region in 1962 to complete his fieldwork and was never seen again. This is that book, read aloud, reproduced as found. Listeners of The Mors Delectamenti Hotel may notice that the tales of Vintenshad are peopled, over and over, by the same small company of figures: a stranger who comes to watch, a counsellor with a soft voice, a second son sent away, a house on a hill that asks so little of its guests. Sallow noticed it too. The name changes. The hawk does not.

THE MORS DELECTAMENTI HOTEL — Episode One: "The Arrival"
Excuse Us, Season Three Short (Spotify/Apple): June 15th, 1933. Nadine Luttrell — disgraced detective, exile, father to a daughter he has never held — takes a cable car up a bad mountain because a stranger's voice on a recording asked him to come and get him now. At the top waits the Mors Delectamenti: a hotel on Carbowee Mountain that curates its guests, pours a drink the colour of old garnets, and does not intend to let anyone leave. A doctor unmakes himself between one breath and the next. An inspector predicts a return that sounds too much like a memory. And beneath the Blood Moon, a cult called the Voraxi prepares to open a dead man's door. Nadine has a pardon he wants, a mission he chose, and no idea yet that the door he walks through tonight is one he will one day open himself. Lena. Ewan. The mission. In that order.
