A Psalm of Ascents.

1 Yehovah, remember David and all his afflictions; 2 How he swore to Yehovah, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 3 surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed; 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, 5 until I find a place for Yehovah, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." 6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of the woods. 7 Let us go into His tabernacle; let us worship at His footstool. 8 Arise, O Yehovah, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. 9 Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy.

My Heart is Meek

A Psalm of Ascent

1 Yehovah, my heart is meek before you. I don't consider myself better than others. I'm content to not pursue matters that are over my head - such as your complex mysteries and wonders - that I'm not yet ready to understand. 2 I am humbled and quieted in your presence. Like a contented child who rests on its mother's lap, I'm your resting child and my soul is content in you. 3 O people of God, your time has come to quietly trust, waiting upon Yehovah now and forever.

5 I am counting on Yehovah; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. 6 I long for Yehovah more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn. 7 O Israel, hope in Yehovah; for with Yehovah there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin.

1 From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me. Let all Israel repeat this: 2 From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me, but they have never defeated me. 3 My back is covered with cuts, as if a farmer had plowed long furrows. 4 But Yehovah is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly. 5 May all who hate Jerusalem be turned back in shameful defeat. 6 May they be as useless as grass on a rooftop, turning yellow when only half grown, 7 Ignored by the harvester, despised by the binder. 8 And may those who pass by refuse to give them this blessing: "Yehovah bless you; we bless you in Yehovah's name."

Blessings of Those Who Fear Yehovah

A Psalm of Ascent

1 How joyful are those who fear Yehovah - all who follow His ways! 2 You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be! 3. Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. 4. That is Yehovah's blessing for those who fear him. 5 May Yehovah continually bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live. 6 May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. May Israel have peace!

1. Unless Yehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless Yehovah guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.
