When earthly authority disappoints you, as it eventually will, remember where lasting judgment actually rests. Every human prince falls. Christ alone reigns forever, and His judgment over you has already been settled completely in your favor through His cross.

This devotion follows that standard to Jesus, who sought out the weak, the outcast, and the afflicted personally, and who continues that work through His Church and every act of mercy shown to someone with no other advocate. He did not wait for us to become worthy before caring for us. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, given to the weak and destitute rather than earned by the powerful. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He feeds even the least and the lowest, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Consider where you have influence today, however small. Whether raising children or serving your neighbor, you are called to reflect this same justice, the justice God has already shown you perfectly in Christ.
