In this Daily Devotion for September 27, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 82:4-6, where God calls judges to rescue the weak and needy, then names them gods, sons of the Most High, not divine themselves but carrying real, borrowed authority given for the good of others rather than their own glory.

This devotion applies that same pattern to every vocation today, family, work, and daily calling, authority given to protect and serve, never to rule for self. God still governs His Church directly through His Word and Sacraments, and there, in Christ, we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, given freely rather than earned through our own faithfulness in any calling. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He continues to care personally for the weak and needy, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Take your own calling seriously today. You are not a god in yourself, but you carry real authority within your vocation, meant for protecting and serving those God has placed under your care.
