Let Us Know What You Think of the Show!

    SHOW SUMMARY:
    Date: October 7, 2026
Name of Podcast: Backstage Pass Radio
S11: E8: Eddie Wineland (UFC, WEC, Firefighter) - Firefighting After Fighting

    SHOW SUMMARY:
A lot of people talk about “never forget.” Eddie Wineland actually trains it into his body. Randy Hulsey sits down with the former UFC veteran and WEC bantamweight champion for a real catch-up that turns into a powerful conversation about service, memory, and the kind of discipline that does not need an audience.

We dig into Eddie’s path from long weeks working near the steel mills to nearly two decades with the LaPorte Fire Department, and why that career gave him the freedom and support to compete at the highest level in MMA. Eddie also breaks down his annual 9/11 stair climb tribute: 2,071 steps, done in full firefighting gear with a pack, repeated up and down stadium stairs. He’s honest about what the gear adds, why the heat matters, and why even a brutal workout still cannot match what first responders faced inside the towers.

From there, the talk widens into family and culture. Eddie shares why his kids join the tribute, why “wrestling is not optional,” and what he thinks phones and comfort are doing to toughness and common sense. Because Backstage Pass Radio always keeps music in the mix, we also get into guitars, learning frustration, and how small daily practice builds real progress. We close by circling back to life after Eddie’s June 2022 retirement: commentating, coaching, and why wrestling pressure is such a foundation in modern mixed martial arts.

    SHOW SUMMARY:
    Date: September 23, 2026
Name of Podcast: Backstage Pass Radio
S11: E7: Jayler (James Bartholomew & Tyler Arrowsmith) - Nostalgia and a Deep Purple Tour

    SHOW SUMMARY:
Rock isn’t quiet, it’s just waiting for the right band to turn it back up. We sit down with James Bartholomew and Tyler Arrowsmith from UK rock band Jayler to talk about how a young group can channel a 60s and 70s classic rock vibe without feeling like a tribute act, and why the performance element of rock matters as much as the notes. From stage outfits to big riffs to that sense of atmosphere, they’re chasing the part of rock and roll that makes a room feel alive.

We get into the real building blocks behind their sound: family influences, deep listening on vinyl, falling down the rabbit hole from Bob Dylan and John Denver to Zeppelin, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and the blues. They share what it’s like leveling up through open mics and jam nights, how they balance musical ambition with the reality of short support sets, and what they learn from sharing stages with legends like Sammy Hagar and soon Deep Purple. You’ll also hear how fans in places like Brazil can turn a song into a shared moment by singing it right back.

Then we zoom in on the songwriting and the Voices Unheard album, including the wild evolution of “Down Below,” which started as a slide riff and gained a key section from a live jam when the band had extra festival time to fill. If you love modern classic rock, UK rock bands, guitar-driven music, and behind-the-scenes touring stories, this one delivers. • S11: E6: Jaron Gulino (Lynch Mob) Road Life & 4 Strings

Let Us Know What You Think of the Show!

    SHOW SUMMARY:
    Date: September 9, 2026
Name of Podcast: Backstage Pass Radio
S11: E6: Jaron Gulino (Lynch Mob) Road Life & 4 Strings

    SHOW SUMMARY:
Watching your hero from the crowd is one thing. Locking in beside them onstage, night after night, is something else entirely.

I sit down with powerhouse bassist and tour manager Jaron Gulino, an East Coast native known for his work with Lynch Mob plus projects like Heaven’s Edge and Tantric. We get into where his sound really comes from: being a fan first, getting raised on Sabbath, Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Iron Maiden, then slowly widening his ears until groove, vocals, and feel matter as much as riffs and speed. Jaron also explains why his bass playing is “guitar-brained” even though he’s not trying to be a guitarist, and how that mindset shapes writing, tone, and stage energy.

We also pull the curtain back on the touring musician reality. Jaron breaks down the unglamorous work that keeps a band moving, from last-minute prep to merch, driving, and tour managing. He shares what it’s like to record a truly raw live album with Lynch Mob (The Final Ride), why leaving small imperfections makes it honest, and how improvisation changes depending on the drummer and the moment. Along the way, he clears up the biggest misconceptions about George Lynch and talks about reading cues when the jams go off-script.

If you care about the music industry, rock and roll, heavy metal, live performance, or what it actually takes to build a sustainable career as a working bassist, this conversation is for you.
