Sintesi dell'editore
Is there a hidden part of you that no one else sees? Do you have a vivid inner world of thoughts and emotions that your peers and loved ones can't seem to access? Have you ever been told you're too quiet, shy, boring, or awkward? Are your habits and comfort zones questioned by a society that doesn't seem to get you? If so, you might be an introvert.
On behalf of those who have long been misunderstood, rejected, or ignored, fellow introvert Jenn Granneman writes a compassionate vindication - exploring, discovering, and celebrating the secret inner world of introverts. Drawing on scientific research, in-depth interviews with experts and other introverts, and her own personal story, Granneman reveals the clockwork behind the introvert's mind - and why so many people get it wrong.
So whether you're a bona fide introvert, an extrovert anxious to learn how introverts tick, or a curious ambivert, this empowering manifesto will answer questions you've always had.

Now I know nothing is wrong with me
I suspected I was an introvert, but had no idea into what level.
A big portion of the topics spoke to my experience growing up. That shame of being shy, a mumbler, and really thinking before acting.
I hate hearing: aww you are too shy! In a condescending tone specially. There’s nothing wrong with me.
Or the: smile girl! While walking down the street.
It’s comforting to hear that the way I process, react to situations have a perfectly sane explanation.
thank you ❤️

Just makes me smile (to myself of course)
There were no major revelations in this book but it was a fantastic read. The author continued to confirm and affirm positives about my personality type. I especially loved the tips on interviews and jobs. For years I’ve felt like an outcast in the workplace. But not anymore. Look out world here we come...quietly of course!

Unnecessary voices
Firstly let me say this book is great! I learned a lot about myself and about Introverts in general. The narration on the other hand left something to be desired. It’s normal to hear one person adopt different voices for a fiction book but to do so in a non-fiction book is unnecessary, distracting and sounds ridiculous and silly. If a man is quoted by the author we’ll know its a man after hearing his name. It is not necessary to put on a weird deep voice to read what he said. There were even times where questionable accents were adopted for quotes from people who had ethnic sounding names. Just read clearly and save the funny voices for the next fantasy novel!

excellent book for people on the spectrum
as a extrovert listening to this book while being alone, do keep in mind of the "in general" theme that is present in the book. at some parts you might think the author is placing introverts as being better in some aspects, but in certain environments, you can achieve the same thing with self awareness. anything that is talked about in this book is the same for both extrovert Ambi and introverts in the sense that if you're over stimulated or under stimulated, you will be less than you are - less creative, less focused so on and so forth.

At first I thought it's not for me, but
At first, I thought that I chose the wrong book. I kinda wanted something to improve communication skills and I felt that this book treats introverts as some special rare species and gives some excuses for our behaviour.
But during listening, I've been realizing that I'm familiar with many of the situations which are described and they really resonated with me.
Towards the end of the book, useful tips were given in various fields (dating, jobs, emotional care).
So in the end, it made me feel good, made me realize some things about myself.
The Narrator was good as well.

For Introverts Who Feel Alone
If you're an introvert and tired of hearing "You need to speak up more," this is an excellent book on handling comments like that and finding ways to be yourself. There is an overview and some research about introverts, but much of the book is a collection of personal stories of how individuals dealt with the challenges of being an introvert at school, work, and home.

A book you would listen to more than once
Would you consider the audio edition of The Secret Lives of Introverts to be better than the print version?
I liked the audio version because I was able to repeat the nuggets of wisdom instantly - while driving.
What other book might you compare The Secret Lives of Introverts to and why?
This book was a new topic for me. I wasn't sure exactly what an "introvert" was, until I heard this. I don't think there's a comparable book out there on this topic.
What about Susie Berneis’s performance did you like?
The voice was paced well, not dramatic unless the content called for it. She was enjoyable to listen to.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Everyone knows one
Any additional comments?
It was worth my monthly credit!

Great book for anyone's seeking to understand
Doesn't matter the temperament, I wish that I could share this insightful information with anyone seeking to understand Introverts. The narrator was not boring, nor was the information in the book. I highlly recommend this book.

Yep, Uh-Huh, No S**t
Well written and very informative.
Did you know that Introverts need recharge time that others may not understand or approve of?
During a conversation with an Introvert, if you want them to hear what you said, don't always expect eye contact.

just what I needed
brilliant, easy to listen to, usually not a fan of the American accent, but this lady had a soothing voice which went well with the topic.

very repetitive
Very repetitive. Almost boring. The book is way too long (and expensive) for what it actually contains.

mostly a very interesting book.
To get the bad out of the way. The section about love and romance droned on a fair bit too long and just made me think teenage girls wrote this section. There's other areas that can be misleading such over thinking. This isn't an introvert quality, my extroverted wife is constantly over thinking situations, and always focuses on all the negative possibilities rather than the positive ones.
Otherwise this book was really interesting. There is lots of #meto moments.
