#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • "Dr. Langdon is once again wrapped up in a global-scale event that could have massive ramifications on the world’s religions. As he does in all his novels, Brown[‘s] extensive research on art, architecture, and history informs every page." —Entertainment Weekly
Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever.” The evening’s host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist, and one of Langdon’s first students.
But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch’s precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced to flee. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch. They travel to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.
Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade an enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain’s Royal Palace. They uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch’s shocking discovery…and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.
"Fans of The Da Vinci Code rejoice! Professor Robert Langdon is again solving the mysteries of the universe." (People Magazine)
"Dan Brown is once again taking on the big questions: God and science and the future of the world. Origin is a familiar blend of travelogue, history, conspiracies and whodunit, with asides on everything from the poetry of William Blake to the rise and fall of fascism in Spain." (Associated Press)
"A brisk new book that pits creationism against science, and is liable to stir up as much controversy as The Da Vinci Code did.... Brown and serious ideas: they do fit together, never more than they have in Origin." (Janet Maslin, The New York Times)

Something is missing..
I love all of Dan Brown Novels but something is missing in this one. Perhaps it's just the Audio that is less than half the length of his other books.. But the book just has the feeling of being a Short Story.
The plot, the performance, all of it was wonderful with the iconic breadcrumbs leading to breadcrumbs leading to the bigger picture in which we come to expect from Dan Brown. Sadly it just needed.. More.

This was so boring and it was the abridge version
Action was predictable and not nearly as fasted paced as previous works. If you want to be talked into sleep then this book is for you- otherwise don’t waste the credit.

Less Symbols... More Art...
Langdon is slowing down. While not wholly disappointed, this was kinda predictable. It just wasn't the Langdon I recall... recognizing symbols, solving mysteries, escaping danger, etc. Well, that stuff did happen, but on a tiny, tiny scale compared to his other adventures. This book felt like it was not trying to tell a suspenseful story as much as using Langdon to as bait to explain away God again. Even with the single line at the very beginning of the main event that "this is all just theory", the characters just blindly swallow it all without any question. There was only one symbol that I recall for our symbologist to explain. The rest felt like the author's new fascination with art and technology. This was not what I wanted from Langdon. And, like I mentioned, it was rather predictable. The narration was great, as usual. I listened comfortably at 1.25X speed to safe time. If any of this was helpful, please click YES below. Later.

Not quite the adventure I’d hoped for.
Not quite as much decoding and “secret revealing” as previous Dan Brown books. Some of the end was handled a little too safely. He could’ve taken a greater risk with a twist near the end and it would have been more meaningful for the associated reader demographic. (I Don’t want to give a spoiler). I love that it was set in Spain, but it had little to do with any Spanish history pre-20th century

Just awful !
Dan Brown ought to be ashamed. I am an avid reader and book on tape listener. Literally hundreds of books. Rarely do I not finish a book because it is so bad. I didn’t finish this one. The final straw is when Robert Langdon is knocked unconscious for minutes(not seconds) and immediately recalls an Internet model of a church under construction in order to find a way out. Mind you, he didn’t know he would be at this church. The priest, WHO LIVES THERE, doesn’t know how to get them out, but Langdon, who was just comatose, does. Not to mention the police have the church surrounded, there are dead officers, but they don’t go to where Langdon is because the priest tells them to wait on the medics. Sadly, this was the last ridiculous situation that made me quit reading; there were many more before this. Oh, and I still had apprx 3 more hours to go. Last dan brown for this reader.

The only 1* book from Dan Briwn
I have read every Dan Brown book and would rate them all 4-5 stars. Typically his books are so interesting you can't put the book down (stop listening). This book was tough to get through. Virtually nothing piqued my interest in this plot. As I read, I felt the ultimate plot was unachievable, which is what ended up happening.

Not so strong storyline
After reading or listening all of Dan Brown’s books, I hoped for some new twist on this plot, unfortunately, I wasn’t surprised or amazed,
One thing though, I really liked Paul Michael’ narration.

He Lost His Mojo
I have read all of Dan Brown's book, but Origins does not make the cut. You can normally count on a suspenseful page turner, but not this time. Save your money.

Fantastic!
One of Dan Brown's best! Thoroughly enjoyed this as much as I did when I read The DaVinci Code the first time.
