Le famose avventure di Harry, Ron e Hermione hanno venduto oltre 500 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo, tradotte in oltre 80 lingue e da cui sono stati realizzati otto film di successo. Oltre alla serie di Harry Potter, JK Rowling ha anche scritto tre brevi volumi a scopo di beneficenza: Il Quidditch attraverso i secoli, Animali fantastici e dove trovarli - a favore delle associazioni Comic Relief e Lumos - e Le fiabe di Beda e il Bardo, a sostegno di Lumos. JK La Rowling ha collaborato con il drammaturgo Jack Thorne e il regista John Tiffany per continuare la magica storia di Harry in uno spettacolo teatrale, Harry Potter e la maledizione dell’erede, che ha debuttato a Londra nel 2016 e ora è in scena in tutto il mondo. Nello stesso anno, ha debuttato come sceneggiatrice della trasposizione cinematografica di Animali fantastici e dove trovarli, il primo di una serie con il magizoologo Newt Scamandro, che è stato ispirato dall’omonimo volume. JK Rowling ha anche scritto un romanzo autonomo, Il seggio vacante, ed è l'autrice della serie poliziesca Strike con lo pseudonimo di Robert Galbraith. Entrambi sono stati adattati per la televisione. Ha ricevuto numerosi premi e riconoscimenti, tra cui un OBE e un Companion of Honor per i servizi alla letteratura e alla filantropia.
