Rhianna is in trouble at school again. She just can't get her magic spells to work, and when they go wrong, they go very wrong indeed. But it's not only Rhianna who is having problems. Magic is failing everywhere, and the Land itself is at risk.

As her second adventure begins, Rhianna still hasn’t fully harnessed the Wild Magic that runs through her very being. When her blacksmith father takes as his apprentice Eriseth, a gifted Eldra girl, Rhianna feels that no one cares about her any more. Filled with jealousy and hurt, she uses the Wild Magic in anger – and suddenly her world is in terrible danger.

The shelf of books before them and the wall itself rose smoothly from the floor, straight up into the ceiling. Until a narrow doorway the height of a tall man was revealed. It was the top of a staircase, and the steps curved away into the darkness, downwards and out of sight... Wild Magic is loose in the kingdom, and the Queen needs Rhianna at the Castle of Avalon. But the castle is full of secret passageways and hidden tunnels, and evil is closer than anyone thinks.
