Raymond Chandler’s famous private eye, Philip Marlowe, comes to life in this 44-episode collection of season one of The Adventures of Philip Marlowe radio show, featuring the original cast recordings originally aired on the CBS Radio Network from 1948-1950. The Adventures of Philip Marlowe was a fan favorite for its no-nonsense, hard-boiled approach to crime solving and is presented here in 44 commercial-free episodes. 

Set in Dodge City, Kansas, during the thriving cattle days of the 1870s, the Gunsmoke radio show was routinely called by radio drama enthusiasts “the best show of any kind and any time”. For nine years from 1952 to 1961, Gunsmoke dominated the airwaves as it portrayed the epic legend of the American West. The lead character of Marshall Matt Dillon, as played by William Conrad, was called the “Philip Marlowe of the Old West”. Besides Conrad, the superb supporting cast included Parley Baer as Chester, Howard McNear as Doc Adams, and Georgia Ellis as Miss Kitty. 

Radio Westerns were strictly for kids until 1952, when Gunsmoke hit the radio airwaves. The stories were grim, the deaths brutal, and life on the plains was harsh. Radio audiences had never heard anything like Gunsmoke, and they made it the number one Western on the radio. It soon made a successful transition to television, becoming the longest-running dramatic series in television history.

The Cinnamon Bear is arguably the best holiday series ever developed for radio. First heard in1937, this wonderful Christmas fantasy adventure was created and written by Glanville Heisch (with the help of his wife, Elisabeth) for children of all ages. It all starts with twins Judy and Jimmy Barton just before Christmas. Someone - or something - has taken the "Silver Star" from the top of their Christmas tree. The very Irish teddy bear, Paddy O'Cinnamon, comes to their rescue and tells them that the Crazy Quilt Dragon has taken the star to Maybeland.
