Someone is cleaning up the badlands, removing the major pirate clans from the most developed worlds. Captain Scott and the Free Fleet must determine who is behind the liberations, and if they are an ally, or just another threat to humanity.

The new galactic trade network that will fund the Free Fleet's operations is beginning to grow, and soon will begin operations. But if operations are not secure, it could threaten the safety of the entire galaxy . . . and beyond. Only one, very unlikely hero, can protect the galaxy against potential disaster. And he needs help.

The Rangers are taking on missions daily . . . The Free Fleet is becoming more widely known . . . The ex-Korsan captains are forming their own alliances . . . The Expedition-class ships have reached their destination . . . Jorim Perona has been resurrected, and is looking for payback. With his advanced warship, the Vengeance, he is out to repatriate his fleet, or destroy them. But his main focus is on the Aurora, and her captain. And he'll sacrifice everything to destroy them.

The Dusahn Empire has been contained for the moment. But there is much work to be done in order to keep them from reasserting their dominance over the Pentaurus sector. As much as Captain Scott wants to see the Empire destroyed, he may have no choice but to find a way to coexist with them.

The Dusahn have been backed into a corner, barely able to hold the worlds of the Pentaurus cluster, let alone the entire sector. Forced to dig in, they may have to resort to drastic measures to save their fledgling empire. Captain Scott must use all his military and diplomatic skills to prepare his forces for the final assault on the Dusahn Empire. But he cannot do it alone. He needs help, and lots of it.

The Dusahn have taken a massive blow, and with the Aurora's improved jump range, Captain Scott and the Karuzari Alliance can finally keep them at arm's length. Now, a previously unknown world may hold the key to defeating the Dusahn, and possibly even to bring peace to the entire galaxy.
