Vor allem die handgemachten, extralangen Weihnachtsstrümpfe in leuchtenden Farben, die extra viel Platz für noch mehr kleine Geschenke bieten, werden rasch zum begehrten Verkaufsschlager.

Quinn Callahan, eine Hexe mittleren Alters, erklärt sich bereit, eine Buchvorstellung für den kürzlich verstorbenen Bestsellerautor Bartholomew Branson zu organisieren. Damit möchte sie dem frisch gebackenen Vampir einen Gefallen tun. Leider geraten die Dinge aus dem Ruder, als der Autor zu diesem Anlass eine große Party veranstaltet und dabei jemand ums Leben kommt.

In dem malerischen Dörfchen Ballydehag in Irland, in das die Hexe Quinn Callahan vor kurzem gezogen ist, scheint ein uralter Fluch Unheil zu stiften. Ist dieser schuld an dem Mord, der sich ereignet? Doch leider geht diese Rechnung nicht auf. Quinn und ihre untoten Bücherwürmer müssen den wahren Mörder finden und dem Fluch ein Ende setzen, bevor noch jemand ums Leben kommt.

Sie ist nämlich eine Vampirin und gehört dem ungewöhnlichsten Handarbeitsclub der Welt an - der Strickrunde der Vampire. Wie Sie sich vielleicht vorstellen können, bedeutet das, dass sie sich jederzeit in die Führung meines Ladens einmischen kann, der einmal ihr gehört hatte.

Als ein älterer Herr bei Scones und Tee im Elderflower Tea Shop in Oxford als Opfer einer Vergiftung tot umfällt, gehen Lucy Swift und ihre Bande untoter Amateurdetektive der Sache auf den Grund: Der Elderflower Tea Shop befindet sich neben dem Cardinal Woolsey's - dem Wollgeschäft, das Lucy führt und in dem sich spät am Abend die Strickrunde der Vampire trifft. Bei den Teestubenbesitzerinnen handelt es sich um zwei achtzigjährige Junggesellinnen, die alte Bekannte der Familie sind, also möchte Lucy dabei helfen, das Rätsel, das zur Schließung des Tea Shops geführt hat, zu lösen.

Als die aus Boston stammende Hexe Jennifer Cunningham sich bereit erklärt, in dem englischen Fischerdorf Tregrebi an der Küste von Cornwall ein Handarbeitsgeschäft zu führen, befürchtet sie erst, dass ihr dort langweilig werden könnte. Okay, dass dort Vampire in einer ehemaligen Zinnmine wohnen, ist ihr bekannt, aber an Vampire hat sie sich mittlerweile gewöhnt.

Lucy Swift, witch and knitting shop owner, thought her biggest challenge at a marketing course in Oxford would be untangling the enigma of consumer behavior, not a murder mystery.
