À l’aube de ses quinze ans, Aurélie a décidé de devenir plus mature. Pendant qu’Aurélie se prépare à écouter gazouiller les moineaux et à observer la danse nuptiale des vers de terre tout l’été (déprimant!), elle ne peut imaginer les péripéties qui l’attendent....

Aurélie s’inquiète : sa mère cherche l’amour sur Internet (elle pourrait tomber sur des maniaques !) et son amie Kat, qui vit une peine d’amour, se révolte contre tous les gars de la terre. Elle va même jusqu’à lui proposer un pacte de célibat qui les lierait jusqu’à la fin du secondaire ! Le cœur d’Aurélie balance entre la proposition de son amie et ses sentiments de plus en plus forts pour Nicolas. Pour couronner le tout, son nouveau voisin, Tommy, se montre plutôt envahissant, et elle a une montagne de travail à faire pour améliorer ses résultats scolaires…

À quatorze ans, Aurélie Laflamme ne se sent aucune affinité avec personne. Depuis le décès de son père, sa mère est un vrai zombie, mais la voilà soudainement qui revit (et qui va même jusqu’à porter des dessous affriolants !). Pourrait-il y avoir un lien avec Denis Beaulieu, le directeur de l’école ? (ou-ach !) Quant à sa meilleure amie, Kat, l’amour lui ramollit complètement le cerveau. Pas question de s’y laisser prendre, elle aussi ! Mais personne n’est à l’abri d’un coup de foudre… Et au milieu de ce tourbillon, Aurélie ne désire qu’une chose, trouver sa place dans l’univers.
