Nell’anno 2031 una sonda robot rileva tracce di attività biologica su Encelado, una delle lune di Saturno. Questa scoperta sensazionale è una prova evidente di vita extraterrestre. Quindici anni dopo una navicella costruita in fretta e furia parte per il lungo viaggio verso il pianeta ad anelli e la sua luna.
