Season 3 Episode 6: Cuddle Connection Part 1 w/ Jule Rochelle

In this episode, Aimee and Sean talk with Jule, a Halifax-based sex coach trained in the Somatica method, about her Cuddle Project and the larger mission behind it: creating a culture where consent is honoured and people can safely practice saying yes and no with their bodies. The conversation focuses on how structured, nonsexual touch can help people heal trauma, build trust, and experience intimacy without escalation. We discuss how the Cuddle Project works, why it began as a personal healing practice, and what happens when strangers gather in a tightly facilitated space to practice safe touch, boundaries, and co-regulation.

    Key topics
    • The Cuddle Project is described as a sober, fully clothed, consent-based, multi-hour cuddle experience.
    • The format includes a two-hour initiation process focused on consent language, boundaries, and basic touch games before entering the larger cuddle space.
    • Jule explains the “puppy pile” and other cuddle configurations, including a center-person nest setup with mattresses, pillows, and blankets.
    • The project has grown into a recurring community with hundreds of initiated participants over four years.
    • Jule shares that the project began as a response to her own sexual trauma and the lack of education around consent and relational skills.
    • The conversation distinguishes touch, intimacy, and sex, emphasizing that touch does not have to lead to sex or romance.
    • Jule discusses how the space can be healing for trauma survivors because participants can observe, participate at their own pace, or stop at any time.
    • Jule explains how she handles misunderstandings about the event, including concerns that it might be sexual, and how the waiver and initiation process help self-select participants.
    • The episode explores arousal in a nonsexual container and the importance of acknowledging bodily responses without acting on them.
    • Jule describes how the space can help people who struggle with receiving, belonging, or trusting others.

    Jule's Bio

Jule Rochelle is a trauma-empowered Sexologist and Intimacy Coach certified in the Somatica® Method, with a background in somatics, bodywork and sacred sexuality. She is passionate about creating safe, consent-centred spaces where people can explore the full spectrum of physical intimacy, from platonic touch and cuddling to sensual and erotic connection. In 2022, she founded The Cuddle Project as a response to the isolation of COVID, social distancing, and an increasingly digital world, creating opportunities for authentic human connection through nurturing, non-sexual touch. Through her coaching and community events, Jule has supported hundreds of people in cultivating self-acceptance, emotional intelligence, secure connections, and more embodied, fulfilling lives.

  • Season 3 Episode 5: Consent Week w/ Gowry Kaliyiluvila Rajesh
    Oct 9 2026

Uncensored U The Sex Ed Podcast, Season 3 Episode 5 Part 2 w/ Gowry Kaliyiluvila Rajesh

This episode continues the conversation with Gowry, focusing on the hands-on prevention and consent education happening on campus. The discussion covers bystander intervention, consent education, healthy relationships, and how student-facing programming is shaped by what students are actually asking and struggling with.Gowry also shares what Reach Day looks like, how first-year students are introduced to safety and support, and why events like Consent Week, Sexual Health Week, and Take Back the Night matter for building a healthier campus culture.

    Key topics

    • In this episode, Gowry explains Reach Day, a first-year training initiative built around bystander intervention, healthy socializing, and community support.
    • She shares that the first eight weeks in post-secondary are a red zone for sexual violence because students are navigating a new environment, new expectations, and new social dynamics.
    • The team reached about 900 students across 18 Reach Day sessions, introducing the basics of bystander intervention and campus support options.
    • Gowry highlights a common misconception students have, which is that support is only available if they formally report. Part of the work is showing that students can access care without filing a formal report.
    • The conversation breaks down the Waves of Change program, including a basic module and an advanced module that explores power, privilege, and scenario-based intervention practice.
    • Gowry says student leaders and athletes often do not realize how much influence they have until they work through the advanced training.
    • The episode previews Consent Week, including residence outreach, a movie night, Take Back the Night, and Healing Blooms, a reflection and connection event in the Hub.
    • Sexual Health Week is also in development, with student educators creating activities that include red flag and green flag conversations around relationships.
    • Gowry describes how the Love Me or Love Me Not activity helps students identify relationship behaviors that are healthy, unhealthy, or worth discussing further.
    • The discussion closes with advice for students new to relationships: boundary setting is not selfishness, and communicating a disagreement can actually make a relationship healthier.

    Key frameworks

    • Waves of Change
      • A prevention and education model with a foundational module and a more advanced module focused on power, privilege, and real-world scenarios.
    • Bystander intervention
      • Students learn how to notice potential harm, step in safely, and support someone who may be at risk.
    • Enthusiastic consent
      • Consent is framed as clear, active yes, with attention to verbal and nonverbal cues, body language, and the ability to stop or change course at any time.

    Notable quotes

    • "If you want to have like a healthy relationship, you should have a better boundary setting."
    • "Pleasure is like an underrated concept."
    • "You can still access the support and you can still have that support in health and counseling."

Unlearning Shame, Consent Language, and Sexual Health Education Across Cultures

Uncensored U, The Sex Ed Podcast sits down with Gowry, the sexual violence prevention education coordinator at StFX University, to talk about what prevention really looks like on a university campus. The conversation focuses on consent, healthy relationships, cultural barriers, and how to make sexual health education more accessible for international students. Aimee and Sean guide the discussion around how students learn, unlearn, and sometimes resist sexual violence prevention messages, especially when language, gender roles, and shame shape what feels “normal.”

    Key topics
    • Sexual violence prevention is not only about saying violence is wrong, but also about teaching boundaries, red flags, green flags, healthy communication, and relationship skills before harm happens.
    • Gowry describes how moving from India to Canada required unlearning assumptions about sex, sexual health, and what is considered “normal” or respectable in different cultures.
    • The conversation highlights language as a major barrier, especially when words like consent and boundaries do not translate cleanly across cultures or are not the terms students use in their own language.
    • The episode explores how media shapes understanding, including how romanticized stories in film and culture can normalize chasing, repeated asking, and ignoring boundaries.
    • Gowry notes that some students already know consent language but do not understand how it applies in real situations, especially around alcohol, power imbalance, and pressure.
    • The discussion also covers gender roles, including expectations that men initiate, women stay quiet or submissive, and non-binary people are often erased from the script entirely.

PrEP and PEP are highly effective, HIV prevention medications.

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a daily pill or injection taken before potential exposure to prevent infection. PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is an emergency, 28-day regimen taken after potential exposure (within 72 hours) to stop the virus.

Key Differences Between PrEP and PEP

    • PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis):
      • Usage: Taken consistently before potential exposure, usually daily or as required, as explained by Canada.ca and Halifax Sexual Health Centre.
      • Target Audience: Individuals who are HIV-negative and at ongoing risk.
      • Effectiveness: Highly effective at preventing HIV; does not protect against other STIs.
    • PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis):
      • Usage: Taken after a potential exposure (e.g., unprotected sex, needle sharing) within 72 hours.
      • Duration: Must be taken for 28 consecutive days, say CATIE.ca.
      • Context: Emergency use only; it is not for ongoing protection.

    Important Notes

    • Both are prescription medications available from doctors, clinics, or sexual health centers
    • If you have a high risk of HIV exposure, you may be a candidate for PrEP, according to CATIE.ca.
    • Doxy-PEP is a different medication (antibiotic) used after sex to prevent other STIs like syphilis and chlamydia, but not HIV, explains Ending HIV.

    Special Guest: Krista Nova

    Tantrika - Teacher - Ritualist

    Krista's Bio:

At the cellular level, Krista is a Tantrika and seeker of the mystical truths. For over two decades, she has been exploring the esoteric aspects of existence through intensive training in yoga, meditation, the tantric arts, somatic counselling and intuitive healing. She continues her quest through annualstudies with renowned teachers around the world, and by guiding her own students in their thirst for experiential wisdom.

Early in this millennium, Krista completed advanced post-secondary studies in Integrative Energy Healing at Langara College in Vancouver, B.C. This 3 year diploma program infused Eastern teachings with Western scientific energymedicine toward the goal of self-mastery and spiritual development to awaken her healing potential.

In 2005, after a relentless search, she finally foundherself in the right place, at the right time, and discovered the Authentic Tantric Path she had been seeking for so long.

In Tantra,Krista discovered that sexual energy — our most potent innate resource — is apowerful tool for transformation toward the goal of spiritual enlightenment.

For the next five years, Krista embarked upon intensive theoretical studies and practical training at one of the world’s leading tantric yoga institutes, based in Southeast Asia. Her commitment and dedication allowed her to complete theentire program in record time. During these years, she surrendered to the depth of her sexuality, practiced thousands of hours of Hatha and Kundalini Yoga, completed numerous Hridaya meditation retreats, and worked intimately with allof the Maha Vidyas—the Ten Wisdom Goddesses of the Tantric tradition.

She served this tantric community by teaching Tantric Yoga, leading Women’s Groups, and organizing large Tantric rituals.

Since 2011, Krista has been based on the traditional, ancestraland unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Stó:lō andSəl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations also known as Vancouver, Canada, where she lives her heart’s calling to share the gifts of the Tantric Arts.

She coaches 1-on-1 clients and couples as well as teaching workshops, classes and retreats to support herstudents in expanding beyond their limitations, and in awakening their fullest potential. In 2014, she co-founded the Heart of Tantra Festival, which occurs each summer in the Squamish Valley in British Columbia.

Over the years of working with many Tantra teacher’s around the world she has been deeply influenced by Guru-ji Rajkumar of the Bhairavananda lineage for the more traditional elements and Homa and Mukto for the Neo Tantric explorations.

As well as tonnes of other brilliant teachers. She is also immersed in the more westernized studies of Trauma Therapy and Somatic Sex Education. She also works as a Relational somatic Therapist specializing in relational trauma.

Krista’s vision is to create a deeply connected, openhearted humanity. Her students often arrive unfulfilled in their mediocre sexual connections. Dedicated studies under her guidance will allow you to reach pure bliss: the highest state of meditative ecstasy.
