    In this episode, I share my complicated history with Halloween and what I found when I looked into its roots. Long before the plastic skeletons and scary movies, this season began with Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the turn toward winter. It was a time to honor loved ones who had passed, gather together, and carry light into the darkest part of the year. Through an Internal Family Systems (IFS) lens, I explore why this matters for our healing. The parts of us we've been taught to fear, the ones that feel dark, scary, or "bad," are often young, hurting, or working hard to protect us. Halloween, at its heart, is an invitation to turn toward our shadows with curiosity instead of fear. Then I pull out my Halloween oracle deck for a reading you can reflect on alongside me.     In the 1980s, in her first attempt at meditation, Darlene Green closed her eyes and Jesus was there. She asked, "Are you inside me or outside me?" He waved his arm, his sleeve opened onto infinity, and he said, "All of this is inside you." She carried that for thirty-five years without understanding it. Then in December 2017 she was invited to write — one year and one day of it, which became four books. Love Speaks Always is the newest, with a foreword by systems philosopher Ervin Laszlo. Darlene and Mechelle talk about horizontal versus vertical consciousness, moving along the gradient of light and density, and stepping into another room of yourself while you're doing laundry.
