A proposito di questo titolo

Practical and proven tips, ideas and advice for private music teachers. Listen in to improve your instrumental or vocal music studio business and find that oh-so-elusive feeling of balance in your life. Welcome to The Vibrant Music Teaching Podcast! This is the show for you if you’re an instrumental or vocal music teacher that wants friendly, creative and accessible advice. I’m your host Nicola Cantan. My membership site, Vibrant Music Teaching, helps teachers all over the world to include more games and creativity in their lessons, so that their students giggle their way through music theory and make faster progress. I also run a popular blog, Colourful Keys, where we write about creative ideas and teaching strategies and an interview show, Teaching Studio Stories. Every Monday I provide bite-sized bursts of inspiration and ideas for instrumental and vocal music teachers. The episodes are usually between 10 and 20 minutes – the perfect length of time to put away some of the music books scattered all over your studio and hide the rest of them in the piano bench. Listen to a few episodes and hit the subscribe button. When you come across an episode you love, make sure to tell your teacher-friends they can get it for free in any audio app that supports podcasts. https://vibrantmusicteaching.com https://colourfulkeys.ie https://instagram.com/colourfulkeys https://www.facebook.com/groups/vibrantmusicstudioteachersCopyright Vibrant Music Limited 2018 All rights reserved. • Piano Technique Doesn’t Have to Be Hard
    Feb 2 2026

What’s the “right” approach to piano technique—Hannon, Dozen a Day, Alexander Technique? In this episode, we skip the dogma and zoom in on three universal principles that simplify technique for every student: tension, ease, and sound. Discover how to spot unnecessary tension, why ease matters more than relaxation, and how sound-focused playing helps students develop real technical awareness. Whether you’re choosing exercises or correcting posture, these three guideposts will keep your teaching grounded, effective, and student-centered.

  • The Feedback Loop (and how it’s misused by piano teachers)
    Jan 26 2026

Feedback is one of the most powerful tools we have as music teachers—yet many of us unintentionally break the feedback loop that helps students grow. In this episode, we explore what a true feedback loop looks like, why “too many goals” and “too much talk” derail progress, and how to give feedback that students can actually use. Learn how to move beyond perfectionism, avoid common teaching traps, and create lessons where feedback becomes a cycle of real learning—not just commentary. Whether you teach beginners or advancing students, this episode will help you make your feedback clearer, kinder, and far more effective.
