Season 1 Episode 8 features Jonathon Roberts. Jonathon is a composer and sound designer for fiction podcasts, games, and theatre. His specialty is using audio to distill complex concepts, create worlds, and bring stories to life for legendary creators. As the audio production lead for scripted podcasts at Spotify, he oversaw post-production, led engineering teams, sound designed, mixed, and recorded multiple #1 shows. Working with executive director Mimi O’Donnell, projects include Case 63 (starring Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac), Quiet Part Loud (with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions), The Two Princes, Motherhacker, Chompers, and Story Pirates.

He also created the ComposerDad podcast, founded the NYC arts nonprofit Spark and Echo Arts, released several albums of music, toured the US with a solo theatre show, played in an iconic NYC absurdist comedy band, and collaborates with his wife, accomplished actor and theater-maker Emily Clare Zempel, on music and theater projects. He lives New York’s Hudson Valley.

John began his career in corporate turnaround/start-up in a wide range of industries from stock photography to residential construction, all the while performing and composing his original music. In 2012, John suffered a severe mental health crisis. His unique recovery story led to his retirement from corporate work and served as the theme for his one man show Home From Here, which plays to standing ovations. The overwhelmingly positive reception to the show and the sharing of other people's stories at them gave birth to the Home From Here Show, a globally ranked talk/music show.
