  • Episode 33: A Nightmare on Elm Street
    Oct 2 2026

On this episode, The Regular Guy Movie Show is heading to Elm Street, where the coffee is strong, the parenting is questionable, and falling asleep can get you murdered by a horribly burned psychopath with knives for fingers.

We're revisiting Wes Craven's 1984 horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street and asking the important questions: Does it still hold up? How the hell did nobody in this neighborhood tell their kids about the child murderer their parents burned alive? And seriously...what the fuck was Freddy doing for the last 15 years?

Along the way, we dig into the movie's shoestring production, the practical effects that still look incredible, the rotating room that nearly became an electrical death trap, Johnny Depp's spectacular introduction to movie death, Robert Englund's transformation into a horror icon, and why Freddy Krueger was so different from the slashers who came before him.

    Plus:

    • We create our own Freddy-fueled nightmare with Nightmare on Mad Lib Street
    • Freddy faces some serious competition in Pick Your Poison
    • We hand out our Boddicker Award
    • And decide how many beers A Nightmare on Elm Street deserves

The writing isn't always great. The acting sure as hell isn't always great. But more than 40 years later, the creativity, practical effects and sheer ambition of this movie still deliver.

So grab a beer, brew a pot of coffee, and whatever you do...

    Don't. Fall. Asleep.

  • Episode 32: Clerks
    Sep 25 2026

We weren’t even supposed to be here today!

This time on The Regular Guy Movie Show, we’re heading to Leonardo, New Jersey, for Kevin Smith’s 1994 indie cult classic, Clerks.

Made for roughly $27,000 and filmed mostly overnight inside the convenience store where Smith actually worked, Clerks became a calling card for an entire generation of aspiring filmmakers. But more than 30 years later, does Dante and Randal’s day behind the counter still hold up?

We dig into the incredible story of how the movie was made, the mixture of actual actors and Kevin Smith’s buddies who populated the Quick Stop, the soundtrack that eventually cost far more than the movie itself, and the logistical gymnastics required to shoot a movie inside a functioning convenience store.

And because apparently we have entirely too much time on our hands, we also investigate some of Clerks’ surprisingly shaky timeline, Veronica’s questionable college-transfer decisions, rooftop hockey, the physics of postmortem erections, and why Kevin Smith probably should have stopped telling us exactly what fucking time it was.

    Plus:

Pick Your Poison puts Clerks against some of its 1994 contemporaries, fellow Gen-X slacker movies and other Kevin Smith favorites.

One Star, We’re Open! challenges Justin and Brian to identify famous businesses using nothing but hilariously terrible customer reviews.

We wave the Magic Wand and decide what one thing we’d change about Clerks.

We hand out the Boddicker Award for the movie’s best character.

And finally, Seth confronts an uncomfortable truth: sometimes nostalgia protects the movies we loved when we were younger... until you watch them again and discover that maybe younger you was kind of a fucking dumbass.

Grab a drink, put some gum in the shutter locks and join us for Clerks.

Just remember: this job would be great if it wasn’t for the fucking customers.

  • Episode 31: The Muppet Movie
    Aug 24 2026

It’s time to get things started! This week, The Regular Guy Movie Show is movin’ right along with Jim Henson’s 1979 big-screen debut, The Muppet Movie.

We revisit the movie that brought the Muppets out of the television studio and into the real world, marvel at the practical ingenuity that somehow made frogs ride bicycles and bears drive cars, and talk about why the movie’s combination of dry humor, slapstick insanity, fourth-wall breaking, and genuine sincerity still works nearly five decades later...at least for two of us.

    Plus:

    • We'll get into the sexual organs of fogs
    • Dive into a cavalcade of cameos...and discuss whether they still hold up when most of them are now deceased
    • We test our knowledge with a round of Muppet trivia
    • The Muppet Movie takes on Alien, The Blues Brothers, Labyrinth, Gremlins and more in Pick Your Poison
    • We hand out our Boddicker Award for the characters who brought the most to the movie
    • And we answer the most important question of all: How many beers does it take to properly enjoy The Muppet Movie?

So grab your banjo, fire up the Studebaker, and watch out for anyone offering you a career in the frog-leg industry.

It’s time to play the music.
It’s time to light the lights.

It’s time for The Muppet Movie on The Regular Guy Movie Show.

  • Episode 29: Major League
    Jul 17 2026
Major League (1989) Just a bit outside...

This week, the guys head to Cleveland to revisit one of the most quotable sports comedies ever made: Major League. When a new owner assembles a roster of misfits, has-beens, and never-weres in hopes of tanking the season and moving the team to Miami, she accidentally creates one of cinema's greatest underdog stories.

We break down the movie's unforgettable cast of characters, debate whether it's really a baseball movie or just a workplace comedy in cleats. Along the way, we talk about the film's legacy, its endlessly quotable dialogue, and a few aspects that haven't aged quite as gracefully.

Plus, we build the most ridiculous baseball roster imaginable using characters from every movie we've covered on the show. The results are... something.

    In This Episode

    • ⚾ Box office and critical reception
    • 🎬 Behind-the-scenes trivia and the making of Major League
    • 👓 Character and cast breakdowns
    • 🪄 Magic Wand: One thing we'd change
    • 🧢 Movie League Baseball: Building a baseball team from movie characters
    • ☠️ Pick Your Poison
    • 🏆 Boddicker Award
    • 🍺 Final beer ratings

So grab a beer, sacrifice a cigar to Jobu if that's your thing, and join us as we find out whether Major League still knocks it out of the park nearly four decades later.

  • Episode 28: The Outsiders
    Jun 19 2026

    The Outsiders (1983) | Stay Gold...or Overrated?

One of the most celebrated coming-of-age movies of all time. One of the most stacked casts in Hollywood history. One very unexpected consensus.

This week, the guys revisit The Outsiders, Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of S.E. Hinton's beloved novel featuring future stars Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez, Diane Lane, C. Thomas Howell, and more.

    The problem?

It just didn't work for us.

Join us as we break down what we thought missed the mark, from rushed character development and over-the-top melodrama to questionable plot decisions and a soundtrack that somehow forgot it was an 80s movie.

    Along the way we discuss:

    • 🎭 Whether the performances still hold up
    • 🚬 Why Dally became one of our least favorite characters
    • 🌅 If the emotional moments still land over 40 years later
    • 🎵 The baffling absence of an iconic 80s soundtrack
    • 🎬 Francis Ford Coppola's decision to adapt S.E. Hinton's novel
    • ⭐ The unbelievable cast...and the even crazier list of actors who auditioned

We also debut a brand-new game, Six DeGreasers of Kevin Bacon, connecting this legendary cast to Kevin Bacon in six degrees or less, hand out our Boddicker Award, make some tough Pick Your Poison choices, and reveal our final beer ratings.

Grab a cold one and join us for another episode of The Regular Guy Movie Show.

  • Episode 27: Secondhand Lions
    Jun 1 2026

On this episode of The Regular Guy Movie Show, we're heading deep into Texas for a look at the 2003 family adventure-drama Secondhand Lions.

Join Seth, Justin, and Brian as they revisit the story of young Walter Caldwell, who is sent to spend the summer with his eccentric great-uncles Hub and Garth McCann. What starts as a reluctant visit quickly turns into a tale filled with hidden fortunes, lion attacks, traveling salesmen, mysterious pasts, and enough porch wisdom to last a lifetime.

    Along the way, we discuss:

    • Whether the movie's blend of adventure, comedy, and heartfelt life lessons still works today
    • The fantastic performances from Robert Duvall and Michael Caine
    • The truth (or possible fiction) behind Hub and Garth's legendary adventures
    • The scene we'd change with our Magic Wand
    • Our picks for the League of Extraordinary Old Cranks
    • And, of course, our Boddicker Award winner

Does Secondhand Lions hold up more than two decades later? Or is it one of those movies that hits differently depending on where you are in life?

Pour yourself a drink, pull up a rocking chair, and join us as we find out.
