  • Finding Companionship through Vulnerability
    Mar 2 2024

Welcome to the Not So Lonely Podcast with your host, Robyn. It’s where you can dump your over-processed thoughts, delve into your feelings, and hopefully, feel a little less lonely. The idea behind the podcast is based on Robyn’s personal experiences with mental health and the realisation that many people feel isolated and lonely with their feelings and emotions.

In the quest to bring people together, Robyn has formed a support group called Girls Against Anxiety. The journey now extends towards this podcast that aims to connect with those who may not always be able to attend the support group meetings. The goal is to share stories and experiences that listeners can relate to and learn from, ultimately creating a sense of community and connection.

This podcast series aims to shed light on different forms of loneliness, whether it stems from deep mental health struggles, climate activism or societal pressures around success and social media. Expect sensitive topics to be openly discussed in the hopes of breaking the silence around them. We will be addressing issues like suicide, women’s health, and the lack of funding for mental health. Discussing these topics openly could hopefully reduce their taboo status and initiate necessary conversations.

Expect conversations with mental health practitioners, health professionals, and everyday people, each offering their unique perspective on loneliness and how they navigate it. We will also delve into the connections and disconnections in various relationships: from friendships to family relations to finding a partner. In each episode, all guests will be asked the poignant question, “what makes you feel lonely?”- in hopes of initiating a dialogue that could help listeners feel less isolated.

Beyond dealing with serious issues, the Not So Lonely Podcast also hopes to harbour a sense of warmth, acceptance, and openness. It is a place where Robyn, our host, will overshare, and hopefully, others would offer the same level of vulnerability. The aim is to broaden the scope of conversation to include topics otherwise difficult to address, in turn, making listeners feel less alone in their experiences.

Thank you for joining our journey. To stay connected, send us a message on Instagram or Facebook @girlsagainstanxiety or join our blog, the I Feel Lonely Blog. Together, let’s make each of us feel less alone.
