• From Loss to Legacy: Sean Lake on Friendship, Resilience, and Building BUBS Naturals
    Nov 3 2026

Sean Lake and I have known each other since 2007, when he and my good friend and former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty walked onto the SEALFIT Grinder in Encinitas. What followed were years of hard training, experimentation, friendship, and some unforgettable experiences that helped shape the early days of SEALFIT.

In this episode, Sean and I go back to where his story began. He shares how he and Glen grew up together outside Boston, dropped out of college around the same time to pursue adventure, and eventually took very different paths. Glen became a Navy SEAL while Sean pursued snowboarding, later working with athletes including Shaun White and Tony Hawk before finding his way into the early CrossFit world and eventually SEALFIT.

We revisit what made those early SEALFIT years different. The suffering had a purpose. The physical work became a vehicle for developing character, accountability, adaptability, and the ability to become an exceptional teammate. Sean also shares what it was like to go through and later coach Kokoro, and why those lessons continued showing up in his life years later.

The conversation takes a deeply personal turn as Sean recounts losing Glen in Benghazi. As Glen’s best friend and next of kin, Sean was among the first to be notified. Grief eventually became purpose as he helped establish the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation and pursued a years-long fight over death benefits for government contractors. That effort ultimately extended beyond Glen, helping other families affected by the same issue.

Sean later carried Glen’s legacy into entrepreneurship by founding BUBS Naturals, named for Glen’s Navy nickname. He shares how a personal experience with collagen sparked the idea, why the company was built around self-improvement and giving back, and what happened when an FDA recall nearly ended the business.

We close by discussing Sean’s approach to product quality, collagen, creatine, longevity, third-party testing, and his vision for building a company that can improve people’s health while continuing to support causes that mattered to Glen.

    In this episode:
    • Sean and Glen Doherty’s friendship and early years together
    • Leaving the conventional path in pursuit of adventure
    • Sean’s years in snowboarding and action sports

  • Richard A. Moore: What Four Decades of Leadership Teaches You About Risk, Trust, and Change
    Oct 27 2026

Leadership principles may endure, but the environment in which we apply them never stops changing.

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I sit down with Richard A. “Rick” Moore, whose leadership experience stretches from Vietnam and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to four decades in engineering and business. Rick brings a long view to what makes teams work, how leadership evolves with experience, and what today’s leaders can learn from navigating very different periods of technological and organizational change.

We explore why trust remains the glue that holds teams together and why leaders risk losing something essential as they move further away from the people doing the work. Rick shares how his early leadership experiences taught him to understand not only what people could do, but what was happening beneath the surface and affecting their ability to perform.

The conversation also turns to AI and the extraordinary pace of change leaders now face. We discuss the uncertainty ahead, the willingness to take risks and leave familiar territory, and why failure becomes valuable when leaders are willing to confront it openly and learn from it.

Ultimately, leading through uncertainty isn’t simply about moving faster. It requires knowing when to act, when to slow down, how to maintain trust, and how to build teams whose strengths complement one another.

    In this episode:

    • Leadership lessons from Vietnam and the Army Corps of Engineers
    • Why trust is the glue that holds teams together
    • Staying connected to the emotional pulse of an organization
    • How leadership changes as organizations become larger
    • Why experience can’t always be accelerated
    • Balancing technological speed with time to think
    • What AI could mean for the future of leadership
    • Getting comfortable operating outside your comfort zone
    • Why failure can become one of your greatest teachers
    • Maintaining trust in volatile and uncertain environments
    • Slowing the mind down before taking action
    • Building teams around complementary strengths
    • Why great teams don’t require everyone to be good at everything

  • The Missing Element of High Performance with Randy Lyman
    Oct 13 2026

Success can be built through knowledge, hard work, and relentless execution. But those strengths alone don’t necessarily create fulfillment, connection, or exceptional leadership.

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I sit down with Randy Lyman, author of The Third Element and The Emotional Healing Workbook. Randy began with a background in physics and entrepreneurship, bringing a highly systematic approach to solving problems. Eventually, he realized there was another part of the equation he had largely overlooked: emotion.

We explore how suppressed emotions and old patterns can continue influencing our decisions, relationships, and leadership long after the original experience has passed. Randy shares his own experience discovering that overachievement was connected to a deeper desire for acceptance and approval, and how addressing that pattern changed the way he approached his life and work.

We also discuss why emotional awareness requires more than simply learning an intellectual model of emotional intelligence. Randy shares practical methods for bringing the mind, body, and emotions into the process, including breathwork, EFT tapping, journaling, and his four-column exercise for identifying the emotions beneath recurring problems.

    In this episode:

    • Why success doesn’t automatically create fulfillment
    • Randy’s transition from physics to entrepreneurship and emotional development
    • The emotional patterns that can drive overachievement
    • Why the need for approval can undermine authenticity
    • The difference between understanding emotions and actually feeling them
    • Randy’s problem, solution, judgment, and emotion exercise
    • Breathwork, journaling, and EFT tapping
    • Why recurring irritation can reveal deeper patterns
    • Perfectionism and the desire to fit in
    • How presence changes leadership
    • Why a leader’s internal tension affects the entire team
    • Creating environments where people feel safe enough to contribute fully

  • Can We Actually Age Better? Regan Archibald on the Future of Longevity
    Oct 6 2026

What if the goal of longevity isn’t simply living longer, but remaining strong, capable, mentally sharp, and engaged as you age?

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I sit down with Regan Archibald, founder of Ageless Future, to explore how personalized medicine, emerging therapies, and the fundamentals of human performance are changing the way we think about aging.

Regan shares how his own health challenges led him toward a more individualized approach to medicine and why he believes comprehensive diagnostics can reveal patterns that standard testing may overlook. We discuss the hidden health costs that can accompany high performance, including chronic stress, overtraining, poor recovery, and the tendency to keep pushing even when the body is signaling that something needs attention.

We also explore peptides and signaling medicine, hormone optimization, GLP-1 therapies, regenerative medicine, and MUSE cells. Throughout the conversation, we come back to an important point: emerging therapies don’t replace the fundamentals. Sleep, movement, nutrition, recovery, stress regulation, relationships, and mindset remain central to long-term health.

    In this episode:

    • Why high performance can carry hidden health costs
    • Looking beyond standard bloodwork with comprehensive diagnostics
    • Building a personalized health operating system
    • Chronic stress, overtraining, and accelerated aging
    • Why recovery becomes increasingly important with age
    • How peptides work as signaling molecules
    • Peptides versus hormone replacement
    • What to understand about GLP-1 therapies
    • The importance of lifestyle alongside medical interventions
    • Regenerative medicine and emerging MUSE cell therapies
    • Why relationships matter for longevity
    • Building today for the health and performance you want ten years from now

  • From Trauma to Post-Traumatic Growth with Dr. Edith Shiro
    Sep 29 2026

Trauma doesn’t always look like someone falling apart. Sometimes it can hide behind achievement, relentless ambition, risk-taking, and the drive to keep doing more.

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I sit down with clinical psychologist Dr. Edith Shiro to explore post-traumatic growth and the possibility of becoming stronger, more aware, and more connected through the process of healing.

Dr. Shiro shares how her own family history shaped her understanding of generational trauma and explains why trauma is about more than the event itself. The resources we have, the relationships surrounding us, our sense of purpose, and the tools we’ve developed can all influence how we respond.

We also unpack her five-stage framework for post-traumatic growth, beginning with radical acceptance and moving through support, new narratives, integration, and ultimately greater wisdom and purpose. And we explore why high performers may need to look especially closely at what is driving their ambition when the outside world continues rewarding their success.

    In this episode:

    • How trauma can move through generations
    • Why the event itself doesn’t tell the whole story
    • Building resilience before adversity arrives
    • Why healing happens through relationships
    • Purpose and spirituality as protective factors
    • Dr. Shiro’s five stages of post-traumatic growth
    • Radical acceptance as the beginning of healing
    • Creating a new narrative after trauma
    • Why the body has to be part of trauma recovery
    • Forgiveness without bypassing pain
    • When high performance becomes a way of avoiding trauma
    • Moving from survival toward growth, wisdom, and service

  • What We’re Still Getting Wrong About Concussions with Dr. Teena Shetty
    Sep 22 2026

A concussion can affect far more than memory or concentration. It can change sleep, mood, physical function, personality, and even how someone experiences their own identity.

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I sit down with neurologist and concussion expert Dr. Teena Shetty to explore why brain injury requires a much more integrated approach to recovery.

Dr. Shetty explains why concussion should not simply be treated by waiting for symptoms to disappear. We discuss the role of sleep and circadian rhythm, exercise, nutrition, physical and vestibular therapy, psychological support, and caregivers in helping the brain recover.

We also explore repetitive and subconcussive impacts, why someone doesn’t necessarily have to lose consciousness to experience a concussion, and how symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, sadness, and personality changes can be connected to brain injury.

    In this episode:

    • Why concussion recovery requires an integrated approach
    • The cognitive, physical, and emotional symptoms of brain injury
    • Why loss of consciousness doesn’t determine concussion severity
    • Repetitive and subconcussive impacts
    • Sleep and circadian rhythm in brain recovery
    • Why the old “cocooning” approach has changed
    • Exercise, nutrition, and rehabilitation
    • The importance of caregivers and community
    • Identity changes after brain injury
    • Emerging approaches to neurological recovery

  • Ben Greenfield on What Happens When the Pursuit of More Stops Being Enough
    Sep 15 2026

What happens when becoming stronger, faster, healthier, and more optimized is no longer enough?

In this episode of the Mark Divine Show, I reconnect with my longtime friend Ben Greenfield for a conversation that moves beyond biohacking and peak performance into the deeper question of what all that optimization is actually for.

Ben spent years pushing the limits of health, fitness, endurance, and longevity, but nearly losing his marriage and family forced him to confront how much of his identity had become attached to achievement. He shares how that experience changed his priorities and shifted his focus toward faith, family, relationships, presence, and the legacy he wants to leave behind.

We explore the tension between effort and surrender and why the drive to constantly improve can sometimes become another form of control. We also talk about deliberately creating space for silence, stepping away from constant distraction, and learning to pursue health without allowing it to become the center of your identity.

Ben also shares the story behind his new documentary, Boundless: The Man Who Became Human After Being Superhuman, and how it captures his evolution from pursuing extraordinary physical performance toward discovering a more meaningful definition of being boundless.

    In this episode:

    • When self-improvement becomes part of your identity
    • The hidden cost of pursuing perfection
    • Ben’s wake-up call after nearly losing his family
    • Shifting from self-preservation toward legacy
    • Why health should serve a larger purpose
    • Balancing effort with surrender
    • Creating intentional space for silence and stillness
    • How constant optimization can become a form of control
    • Faith, family, and redefining what matters
    • The story behind Ben’s Boundless documentary
    • Raising children with values, wisdom, and purpose
    • Moving from achievement toward presence
