  • Do have have the “right” to lead? How to increase your leadership impact with Jeffrey Van Dyk and Dr. Gary Salyer - EP#34
    May 27 2022

Dr. Gary Salyer is a longtime friend and neo reichian relationship mentor and attachment theory expert. One of the aspects of his work that’s always fascinated me is around the 6 rights that Wilhelm Reich said that every human must have “installed” to be fully functioning, powerful contributors in society. In this episode we discuss each of those six rights in detail, examining their impact on love, life and business… including what happens in your business if they aren’t yet installed! We also address the four fundamental feelings that will help you create connection with others and increase your ability to make impact on the world.

  • Creating Culture Change through Innoavative Conversation “Technology,” with Jeffrey Van Dyk and INCLUSIVV founder, Jennifer Graham - EP#33
    May 18 2022

I’ve heard a ton of ideas on culture change and creating inclusive dialogue, but nothing so well thought-out, creative and scalable as this.

Jennifer Graham is a visionary “conversation cultivator” and the Founder and CEO of Inclusivv, a visionary culture change company.  She spent years running TEDxAtlanta, but got frustrated by the 1-way dialogue. She wanted to move from me-to-you “ideas worth spreading” to a conversation that could bring multiple diverse voices together for “conversations that matter.”

How do you get people to engage with one another around difficult subjects? How do you get them to listen to one another and learn from the experience? How do you get bosses and subordinates from diverse backgrounds to gain common understanding? These are some of the questions that Jennifer has been able to answer with her unique “conversation technology” that’s at the heart of what her company, INCLUSIVV, does.

One part of the conversation that made my mind explode just a bit was how this “conversation technology” can be used to get people to engage more deeply and meaningfully at events, in book launches and around programs you may run in your company.

She is on a mission to design a more inclusive and sustainable world by using the art of conversation to drive real and lasting change.

  • How your culture and your wounds correlate directly to your immune response, with Dr. Mario Martinez and Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP#31
    May 4 2022

I’ve spent my professional career pioneering the relationship between core wounds and marketing, but this interview with Dr. Mario Martinez was one I didn’t see coming! He has pioneered the direct link between your emotional wounds and your immune response, with credible research evidence to back it up. He’s a true visionary who blew my mind with his research and the emotional “antidotes” to negative immune responses in the body.

Dr. Mario Martinez is a clinical neuropsychologist and cultural psychoneuroimmunologist. In his biocognitive model, Mario identifies complex pathways showing how our cultural beliefs affect our immune, nervous, and endocrine systems, and translates them to create practical applications. He is the preeminent proponent of cultural psychoneuroimmunology, and has published numerous articles on “causes of health” based on his research with healthy centenarians on five different continents.

He has studied healthy centenarians worldwide and found that only 20 to 25% can be attributed to genetics - the rest is related to how they live and the cultural beliefs they share. He is the author of the bestselling book The MindBody Code: How to Change the Beliefs that Limit Your Health, Longevity, and Success that teaches his theory and practice of biocognitive science to the general public.

  • #SurvivingSundays: Changing the paradigm of mental health in boardrooms & Inclusion work, with Emma Mainoo and Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP#29
    Apr 20 2022

Emma is a mental health pioneer, bringing the work of mental health to the center of corporate environments, with a particular emphasis on supporting traditionally marginalized people. Early in Emma’s own career, her struggles with depression and anxiety seemed to culminate on dreaded Sundays. Writing was a huge part of her healing journey, and she started sharing her stories on her blog Survingsundays.com and @surviving_sundays on Instagram, which went viral. She then started inviting other people to share their experience, seeking to create a space for people to feel held and supported outside of therapy. Today she’s the head of mental heath at a premier inclusion consultancy, Utopia, which is spearheading the work of mental health in the workplace.

  • Epigineics, Intergenerational Trauma and global change, with Dr. Rachel Yehuda PhD and Jeffrey Van Dyk
    Apr 14 2022

Dr. Rachel Yehuda PhD is a highly respected leader and true pioneer in the field of epigenetics, intergenerational trauma, and the use of psychedelic-assisted therapies. A few years ago, a Dr Yehuda released a groundbreaking study on the children of Holocaust survivors, demonstrating how the lessons from trauma to be passed down intergenerationally, through markers in the genes. We talk about the implications of that on our society, and how psychedelics are providing great promise in supporting people to resolve deep-seeded traumas that they otherwise can’t seem to access. Dr. Yehuda stresses that while the maladaptive responses trauma are handed down, so are the responses that create resiliency. My hope is that this conversation will help you see that when you engage in personal and leadership development, that work sits inside of a larger cultural and intergenerational container.
