Desiree Day studies the Book of Ruth for the first time with a group of women — and it cracks open a truth about sowing and reaping she'd never connected before: sometimes we reap a harvest we never personally planted, from seeds of faithfulness sown long before we showed up.

Anchored in Jeremiah 33:3 — "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know" — Dez walks through Ruth's story: a widow who chose a God that wasn't originally hers, walked into fields she never planted, and ended up in the lineage of Jesus, all because she was willing to call out and keep showing up.

Then she gets honest about her own week — carrying bitterness she didn't recognize as bitterness, trying to fix other people's situations in her own strength instead of falling on her face and praying for them, and finally hearing what God had been trying to tell her all along: stop carrying it, and call to Me instead.

This episode includes a new Holy Shift Action, "The Call and Fall," and a deep, extended prayer over everything you're carrying that was never yours to carry.

    • Generous Without an Agenda: 2 Corinthians 9:6 on Sowing and Reaping | Holy Shift Devotionals
    • Series Umbrella: A Time for Every Purpose
    • Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV) — "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."

Desiree Day opens with a memory almost everyone has — breaking a cookie in half and quietly making sure your piece is the bigger one. That childhood instinct becomes the doorway into today's message on real generosity, anchored in 2 Corinthians 9:6: "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."

She shares the story of a husband who thought he'd tithed a $20 bill and realized afterward he'd actually given a $100 — and his wife's response, "you only gave with the spirit of 20," reframes what real generosity actually costs. Dez gets honest about the difference between giving with an agenda and giving for the glory of God alone, plus a story from last year of obeying God's prompt to "jump" with zero expectation of return — and watching Him provide back in abundance.

This week's Holy Shift Action: notice every opportunity you get to be generous this week, and ask yourself honestly — are you doing it for something, or for Him?

  • Here Am I, Send Me | A Time For Every Purpose | Ep. 294
    Sep 24 2026
    • Here Am I, Send Me: Raising Young Lions |A Time for Every Purpose

      Recorded: Sept 23, 2026

Scripture: Isaiah 6:8-9 and Isaiah 5:25-30

Desiree Day does something different today — no script, no plan, just a message straight from her heart. She's widening what this show is for: not just you, but your whole family, as you raise up "activated kingdom shifters" together.

She's led to Isaiah 6:8-9 — Isaiah's answer when God asks, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" — "Here am I. Send me." But before that verse, God takes her somewhere she didn't expect: the end of Isaiah 5, to the banner lifted up to the nations and the roar of young lions. And that's when a real moment from her morning breaks it wide open — a dinosaur sticker, a hard daycare drop-off that suddenly wasn't hard, and her almost-three-year-old son running in with a smile, saying "Roar."

Dez connects her son's roar to Isaiah's roaring lions in real time, on mic, and gets honest that these aren't tears of sadness — they're prayers. She reframes today's Holy Shift Action around raising the next generation: share this scripture with your children, tell them the story of Isaiah being called, and let them know they can say "Here I am" too.

This is the start of a new format for Holy Shift Devotionals — same heart, same mission, now built to be listened to as a family.

    • Ancient Word: Georgos (γεωργός) — Greek, "farmer / tiller of the ground / worker of the soil"

Desiree Day closes out the first leg of A Time for Every Purpose with the hardest part of the harvest: the waiting. Anchored in James 5:7-8, "see how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop," Dez breaks open the Greek word behind "farmer" — Georgos — and why the real work isn't just planting, it's staying patient through a season you can't control or speed up.

She gets honest about her life before walking with Jesus daily — carrying every harvest on her own shoulders, forcing timelines, and the heartbreak that came from it — and what surrender actually looks like now: one thing at a time, every single day, as God keeps showing her what she's still gripping. She names the real warning sign when she's drifted out of that patience — exhaustion, stress, and brain fog trying to juggle her projects — and what it's actually telling her.

This episode includes the Georgos Patience Check, a hands-on Holy Shift Action for releasing what you keep digging up to check on, plus an expectant prayer closing out this leg of the journey — recorded on the first day of autumn.

    • A Time for Every Purpose
    • Release Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026
    • Scripture: Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Desiree Day continues A Time for Every Purpose with the verse right after "sow bountifully" — Galatians 6:9: "let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." She breaks open the Greek word behind "weary," Enkakeō, and why it's not about running out of energy — it's about letting the bad get in and cave your resolve.

Dez gets brutally honest about her own daily version of this: the instant, subconscious pull to scroll her phone in between tasks, at home, with her son in the room, and the awareness it's taken just to notice she's doing it — plus the one small thing she's started doing about it.

This episode includes the Enkakeō Awareness Check, a hands-on Holy Shift Action for catching the counterfeit rest before it drains you, and a gentle prayer for anyone worn down in the middle of the harvest.

Desiree Day continues A Time for Every Purpose with a verse most people think is only about money — and it isn't. Anchored in 2 Corinthians 9:6, "he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully," Dez breaks open the Greek word behind "bountifully" — Eulogia, which literally means blessing — and why that changes everything about how you sow.

She gets honest about everywhere she's sowing right now without seeing the harvest yet: learning a new kind of patience with her toddler, saying yes to pro bono projects she felt God nudging her toward, and building a new part of her business with a partner that's hitting obstacle after obstacle just two weeks after their first big breakthrough. She talks about the difference between sowing in fear and sowing in faith — and shares a real-time God-wink: right after naming a fear she couldn't put words to, her Bible app's verse of the day landed on Isaiah 41:13, "do not fear, I will help you."

This episode includes the Eulogia Sowing Check, a hands-on Holy Shift Action for sowing blessing on purpose today, plus a declaratory prayer over everything you've planted that hasn't come up yet.

  • Break Up the Fallow Ground | A Time for Every Purpose | E289
    Sep 16 2026

Break Up the Fallow Ground A Time for Every Purpose — Episode 2

Some parts of life don't fall apart with a bang. They just go quiet. Nobody's worried about them because nothing dramatic ever happened there — they just stopped being tended.

That's the ground Hosea 10:12 is talking about: "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."

The word for today: Niyr (נִיר) The Hebrew word translated "fallow ground" is Niyr — ground that was once workable, once capable of growing something, but has gone hard because it's been left alone too long. Not wasteland. Neglected ground.

This one's personal Dez shares how this very podcast became her own example this month — a stretch of illness, then God bringing in new paying clients, and having to rebuild her time and capacity from scratch. Something had to give, and it was this show. A month away from a daily habit of showing up, and the ground had already gone hard — proof that fallow ground doesn't require a disaster, just neglect.

What this means for you Breaking up fallow ground starts with naming the exact area you've quietly stopped tending — not "I've been busy," but the specific thing: the marriage you stopped praying over, the finances you stopped believing could change, the friendship you let go quiet. Expect the first pass to feel uncomfortable, not peaceful — that's what breaking up hard ground is supposed to feel like. And don't skip to the harvest conversation before doing the ground work — God's order in this verse is sow, break up, then seek Him for the rain.

Today's Holy Shift Action: The Niyr Ground Check Write down (on actual paper) one area that's gone hard from neglect. Name it in one honest sentence. Then do one small, physical act of breaking it up today, and speak this out loud while you do it: "God, I stopped tending this. I'm not asking You to skip to the harvest. I'm asking You to help me break up what's gone hard, starting today."

  • This Is the Season |A Time for Every Purpose
    Sep 12 2026

Title: This Is the Season |A Time for Every Purpose

    EPISODE 288

Desiree Day returns after stepping away to rest and go deeper with God — opening up about celebrating one year away from weed, facing intense temptation right before that milestone, and then walking through illness that kept her off the mic. She shares why she needed her own "Rise and Walk" reminder to re-open her heart and let God lead again.

In this launch episode of a brand new series, A Time for Every Purpose, Dez anchors the whole season in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 — "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." She breaks open the Hebrew word behind "purpose," Chephets, and why it actually means delight — proof that God isn't just tolerating your current season, He delights in it, even when it feels like nothing is growing.

Dez gets honest about the years in her teens and twenties she used to call wasted, and how looking back now she can see God moving the whole time. She teaches that you don't get to decide what season you're in by how it feels, gives you a daily "Season Check" decree to speak over your own timeline, and prays a prayer of repentance for arguing with God's timing.

This episode also marks a format change for the show — Holy Shift Devotionals moves from daily episodes to three a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
